What I Need
Ginger Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Spilt my cup on top of everyone
Tripped on stairs and fell for so long
Nothing else is present in my view but you
Left my keys oh please at the local park
Walked across the street into a car
My mind on vocation with you

I donโ€™t know what to do
Other than love you
Thereโ€™s nothing else I can do
Other than love you

Dropped my plate oh great thatโ€™s another one
Tried to skate and ate shit it wasnโ€™t fun I think I am losing its true
Burnt the toast and broke your favourite jar
Fed the cat a snack from the mini bar
Left the door wide open yeah itโ€™s true

I donโ€™t know what to do
Other than love you
Thereโ€™s nothing else I can do
Other than love you

I donโ€™t know what to do
Other than love you
Thereโ€™s nothing else I can do
Other than love you

I donโ€™t know what to do
Other than love you

I donโ€™t know what to do
Other than love you

Overall Meaning

Ginger's song "I Don't Know" captures a sense of chaotic affection interwoven with moments of clumsiness and mishaps. The opening lines vividly paint a picture of the singer's scatterbrained demeanor, reflecting an emotional state where love feels overwhelming but also slightly disordered. Spilling a cup on everyone signifies a lack of control and perhaps an unintentional disruption caused by the singerโ€™s strong feelings for the object of their affection. The imagery of tripping and falling suggests an awkwardness that may be echoed in their emotional life; they seem to be metaphorically "falling" for someone in a way that is both exhilarating and disorienting. The mention of leaving keys at a park illustrates forgetfulness and the tendency to lose oneself in thoughts of the other person, implying a deep fixation that transcends mundane responsibilities.

As the song progresses, the focus returns to the singer's self-awareness regarding their feelings. They acknowledge that no matter how clumsy or chaotic life becomes, the fundamental response to their situation is love. The repetition of the lines "I donโ€™t know what to do / Other than love you" emphasizes a feeling of helplessness but also serves as a testimony to the power of love as an inescapable driving force in their life. This cycle of confusion punctuated by the clarity of their feelings highlights the dichotomy between life's unpredictability and the steadiness of affection. Itโ€™s as if the singer is trying to navigate the messiness of daily life while realizing that love is the only beacon guiding them through the confusion.

The second verse continues to explore the theme of imperfection, emphasizing the everyday accidents that occur alongside the singer's feelings. From dropping a plate to burnt toast and the care taken to feed a cat, these moments serve as metaphors for the little mishaps that add to the texture of life and love. Each small disaster further illustrates their scatterbrained existence, reinforcing the idea that love exists within the bounds of mess and chaos. It becomes apparent that the singer is confronted by a sense of vulnerability, as their love appears to be both a source of joy and a cause of turmoil. The broken favorite jar symbolizes not just the accidental nature of their life but also the fragility of relationships built from love, where moments of carelessness might lead to unintended harm.

Ultimately, "I Don't Know" encapsulates a journey through confusion, affection, and acknowledgment of imperfection in relationships. The repetitive nature of the chorus suggests a mantra-like acceptance of love in all its forms, even when accompanied by chaos. By emphasizing that love is the only answer to their turmoil, the song highlights a universal truth about the human condition: the paradox of love as both a comfort and a source of anxiety. In moments of uncertainty and chaos, the singer finds solace in their unwavering commitment to love, portraying it as an essential and almost instinctual response to the messiness of life. This exploration resonates deeply with anyone who has experienced the highs and lows of romantic entanglements, making Ginger's piece relatable and poignant.

Olive oil and lemon mixed would not be very inviting. If taken at different intervals it would work better. For instance, take lemon at one time and than later take your olive oil. I take a few teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil, and directly afterward drink some apple juice or apple cider with apple cider vinegar in it (With the mother). It works for me. It helped heal and fix my stomach and intestinal tract.

I'm 74 years old. Over time I lost my sense of smell and taste. I tried working with essential oil therapy to no avail. I began juicing for other reasons -- mostly kale, apple, carrot, and celery -- but then I got bored and began adding 1 inch pieces of ginger. Imagine my surprise when I began smelling and tasting the ginger!! After a week my sense of smell and taste were fully restored!!
