From Hanover he moved to St. James where hie attended school and ultimately growing into a mild mannered young man. While in St. James Ginjah realized that „Music is mi life“, and in 1994 he moved to Central Village, Spanish Town where he had his first Studio-Session at the age of seventeen! This Studio was no others than the illustrious King Jammy´s, home to many giants in the music business. Although Ginjah was ready for the world, having now been exposed to critics of an acclaimed studio such as Jammy´s the world has not yet become aware of his musical talents, so he made the best of his time while in Central Village helping to organize a Young People Talent Search for his home community. He not only saw local talent but showcased his own which gave him valuable experience which he would use later on. In 1999 he cought the ear of Beres Hammond who instantly became convinced of the potential of this young man. He was immediatly invited by Beres Hammond to his Harmony House Label. In 2000 Beres label opened his door to Ginjah where he began his early recordings.
No sooner than 2001 he was on tour with Beres Hammond on his Caribbean Tour. That year Ginjah opened several shows streching across the major caribbean cities leaving behind a trail of satisfied patrons wanting for more. Ginjah went on touring with Beres throughout the world, places including Europe, Canada, USA & Japan. Over the period of 4 years, he has performed at allmost every major Reggae-Event across the world except Africa. At 2004 he performed at Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica immediately followed by Pop Icon Lionel Richie and gave a good account to himself to the surprise of everybody there.

Ginjah's "Midnight Train" encapsulates a deeply personal narrative of heartbreak and self-realization. The artist begins the song by expressing feeling misunderstood, indicating a disconnect between how others perceive him and his true identity. This struggle with personal image versus public perception resonates profoundly, as he emphasizes that the way people view him doesn't align with who he genuinely is. The line "your image of me is not what I want to be" exemplifies a common theme in relationships where external judgments can distort one's self-concept, evoking a sense of frustration and the desire to break free from these misconceptions. The repetition of "your image of me is not my reality" emphasizes a plea for authenticity, both for himself and within the relationship.
The chorus serves as a decisive turning point in the narrative, where Ginjah resolves to leave his current situation, symbolized by his departure on the "midnight train." The metaphor of the midnight train evokes feelings of urgency and escape but also reflects a personal journey towards self-discovery. The phrase "feel the influence" suggests that while external forces might have played a part in his decisions, it’s ultimately his choice to pack his things and move on. This shift toward self-determination is powerful; he has made the decision to prioritize his well-being over the toxic dynamics of the relationship, resonating with listeners who may have experienced similar feelings of entrapment.
In the first verse, Ginjah directly addresses the woman he’s involved with, noting the changes he observes in her behavior. He recognizes that external influences are likely affecting her, leading to what he sees as misleading actions. The line "please say your prayer & go back to bed" reveals a mixture of concern and frustration, suggesting that he empathizes with her struggle while also expressing a desire to detach from the negativity. This juxtaposition of caring yet wanting to distance himself underscores the complexity of relationships, where emotional ties can become burdensome. The imagery of “prayer” suggests a hopeful longing for clarity or redemption, both for her and for the relationship that seems to be unraveling.
As the song progresses, Ginjah reiterates his determination to move on despite the pain of separation. The realization that this day of parting was inevitable shows a blend of acceptance and resignation. His intention to leave while wishing her "good grace" indicates a maturity in handling the breakup—acknowledging the past while also hoping for a better future for both parties. The repeated emphasis on needing space and the imagery of packing a suitcase captures the act of both physical and emotional distancing. It reflects a conscious decision to step away from the chaos that has become their relationship, further reinforcing the message of self-preservation and the pursuit of inner peace. Overall, "Midnight Train" presents a poignant reflection on the complexities of love, self-identity, and the journey towards healing.
