I used to see the world in black and white
I used to believe life was simple and easy to comprehend.

I have come to understand that life is not always fair and outcomes are not always just.

I once believed if I loved others they would love me too
I used to think that treating others with love and kindness would guarantee the same treatment from them.

But I've seen that isn't always so
I have come to realize that not everyone will reciprocate the love or kindness shown to them.

I thought the inner-peace would come from trusting who I am
I used to believe that trusting in myself was the key to finding inner peace.

But it's really about trusting who I know
I now understand that finding inner peace requires me to trust in a higher power or authority.

So when the winds of change try to blow me over
When life's circumstances become difficult and uncertain,

And the shadows of confusion hide the truth
And when it's hard to distinguish what is true or false,

I will hope in the One who is forever
I will put my hope and trust in an eternal, unchanging higher power.

I will run to You
I will seek comfort and guidance from this higher power.

Ever since the moment life began
Since the beginning of time,

Humankind has tried to solve its mysteries
Humanity has always tried to understand and explain the mysteries of existence.

So many things we cannot comprehend
There are many things in life that we cannot fully understand or explain.

So we draw conclusions that we can believe
Therefore, we must come to our own conclusions based on what we feel we can believe.

Well, I know that Your hands have placed the earth upon the seas
I believe that a higher power created and oversees the natural world.

And pitched a tent in the Heavens for the sun
That this higher power created the universe and all its celestial bodies.

The author of the universe is the father who loves me
This higher power is affectionate and caring towards me.

So, only one conclusion can be drawn...
Therefore, I can only conclude...

When I face the questions that seem to have no answers
When I encounter confusing or unanswered questions in life,

And I know my friends are but a precious few
And when I am aware that the number of people I can rely on for support is limited,

I will hope in the love that never changes
I will trust in the eternal, unchanging love of a higher power.

Though the perils of life seem so great
Even though life's hardships may seem overwhelming,

And hope seems so frail
Even when it feels like there is little hope.

You never fail, no
I am confident that a higher power never fails me.

Shadows may not disappear
Darkness and difficulty may not simply disappear.

But You've always made it clear
But I am certain that this higher power always provides direction and guidance.

Truth will prevail
I trust that truth will ultimately win out over confusion and falsehood.
