Ginuwine can be spotted in one of Jodeci's videos. There, he met rapper Missy Elliott and producer "Timbaland", who became his main collaborators through the 1990s. Ginuwine's first single, the 1996 " Pony" from Ginuwine...The Bachelor, showcased his smooth vocals and Timbaland's innovative production style, and the two became a hit-making duo.
After his second album, 100% Ginuwine, released in 1999, Ginuwine and Timbaland grew apart, and producers such as R. Kelly have crafted hits for him since then. In 2001, Ginuwine had a number-four hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single " Differences", which also peaked at number-one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. In 2002, Ginuwine was a feature artist on P. Diddy's number-one hit "I Need a Girl (Part II)".
Ginuwine's fifth album, Back II Da Basics, was released on November 15, 2005. The album debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200, selling close to 100,000 copies. Ginuwine stated on BET's Top 100 countdown that the album went Gold with sales of 500,000 copies.
In May 2007, an album entitled I Apologize was released in stores. Although attributed to Ginuwine, the release was an unauthorized album and only included three Ginuwine songs - apparently from stolen masters - and ten songs by other artists. Ginuwine spoke against the unofficial release on both his MySpace page and through YouTube.
Ginuwine's sixth album entitled A Man's Thoughts, was released on June 23, 2009. Ginuwine formed a group with Tank and Tyrese named TGT. Their first single was a remix of Tank's "Please Don't Go". They were supposed to tour but plans fell apart due to conflicting schedules.
Ginuwine announced on his Myspace Blog on August 21, 2008 that due to label and legal issues they will not be able to release an official TGT album. Ginuwine is the founder and CEO of LoveSong Incorporated, after completing his contract with 550 Music/Epic. Ginuwine announced on his Myspace blog on August 21, 2008 that he signed a major label deal with Notifi Records/Warner Brothers.

And tell them play it like the first time
When the songs done call the radio
And tell them play it like the first time
Every time it feels like the very first time
Wake up in the morning and I open my eyes
I see you, you, you
And every time I put my lips on your lips
I love the way it feels baby when I do this
I say oh, everything (everything that you do, it makes me say)
I say oh, baby yeah
When I run my fingers through your hair
That's when nothing in the world compares
I just wanna please you, please you girl
I never wanna see you, see you hurt
Still smell like perfume when it's fresh out the box
Wanna wipe you down every morning like the car I just bought
And like a brand new house take my shoes off to walk
You're still fine like the very first time
The very first time I saw you girl
The very first time I saw you girl
Still fresh with the best
Can't believe I'm getting less
Still fine like the very first time
You make my heart go boom boom boom
When you step up in the room
Oh what I wanna do to you
When I get you to my room, girl
This private part is made
In your brother's VIP
I run my fingers through your hair
That's when nothing in the world compares
I just wanna please you, please you girl
I never wanna see you, see you hurt
Still smell like perfume when it's fresh out the box
Wanna wipe you down every morning like the car I just bought
And like a brand new house take my shoes off to walk
You're still fine like the very first time
The very first time I saw you girl
The very first time I saw you girl
Still fresh with the best
Can't believe I'm getting less
Still fine like the very first time
When the songs done call the radio
And tell them play it like the first time
When the songs done call the radio
And tell them play it like the first time
Just bob your head, move your feet
This time make the speakers speak
Just like the first time
Just bob your head, move your feet
This time make the speakers speak
Just like the first time
Still smell like perfume when it's fresh out the box
Wanna wipe you down every morning like the car I just bought
And like a brand new house take my shoes off to walk
You're still fine like the very first time
The very first time I saw you girl
The very first time I saw you girl
Still fresh with the best
Can't believe I'm getting less
Still fine like the very first time
In "First Time" by Ginuwine, the artist is expressing his desire for his significant other in a way that conveys a sense of newness and freshness. He longs for the feeling of excitement that came with the first time they were together, and wants to recreate it again and again. The song is a reminder that the love between two people can be rekindled, and that it is important to continually strive to maintain the spark that brought them together in the first place.
The chorus of the song encourages listeners to call into the radio station and request that the song be played "like the first time." This reinforces the message that the artist is conveying, that the feeling of newness and excitement can be recaptured. The verses describe the artist's desire for his significant other, using metaphors like "wanna wipe you down every morning like the car I just bought" to express the intensity of his feelings.
The line "You make my heart go boom boom boom" is a nod to the artist's 1999 hit, "My Pony," which also features the phrase. Overall, the song is a catchy and upbeat reminder to keep the love alive, even after the initial excitement wears off.
