Under my skin
Girls Under Glass Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Almost every dark night
I think of you and realize
What we do is right
And when I look inside
Life becomes a fight
That never tells the truth
Cause all I see is you
You take my hand
We understand our love and sin
We're living in
You call my name
I hear you again
We share our dream
So often we tried hard
We await the start, the time to live our dream
You're under my skin
The lyrics of Girls Under Glass's song "Under My Skin" describe the intense connection between two people who have a deep emotional and physical bond. The singer of the song confesses that when they close their eyes on dark nights, they think of their partner and realize what they have is right. However, when they look inside themselves, life becomes a fight and they struggle to see the truth, but their partner is always the constant light in their life.
The lines "You take my hand, we understand our love and sin" and "You're under my skin" express the intimacy they share and the fact that they are perfectly suited for one another. They have been trying so hard to be together, and now they have finally found the time to live their dream.
The lyrics draw a powerful comparison between the darkness inside the singer and the light brought by their lover. The song affirms that true love can overcome any obstacle and prevail even in the darkest of nights.

When I close my eyes
Whenever I shut my eyes tight
Almost every dark night
During the majority of the nights which seem gloomy
I think of you and realize
I recollect you and come to understand
What we do is right
Our actions are justified
And when I look inside
On introspection
Life becomes a fight
Living becomes a struggle
That never tells the truth
Which never conveys reality
Cause all I see is you
Since you're all I can see
You take my hand
You hold my hand
We understand our love and sin
We comprehend our connection and wrongdoing
We're living in
We inhabit
You call my name
You say my name
I hear you again
I hear your voice once more
We share our dream
We share our aspiration
So often we tried hard
We made several attempts
We await the start, the time to live our dream
We look forward to the beginning, the moment to execute our plans
You're under my skin
You deeply affect me
