Kelly Johnson and Denise Dufort later joined and in April 1978 they changed their name to Girlschool.
Their first single Take it all away was released on the City Records label which led to them gaining a Motörhead support slot on the Overkill tour in 1979.
Having signed with Lemmy´s record company Bronze later that year, the band released their first album Demolition in 1980.
After touring Japan in 1982, Enid left and was replaced by Gil Weston of The Killjoys and Girlschool recorded their third album Screaming Blue Murder.
When Kelly left to live in L.A. she was replaced by Cris Bonacci on lead guitar and singer Jackie Bodimead on lead vocals for the 1985 album Running Wild.
After many more line-up changes and releases on various labels, the original bassist/vocalist Enid rejoined the band in 2000, together with Jackie Chambers. In 2002 the band released the 21st Anniversary: Not that Innocent album.
Their 12th and latest output is the re-recorded Hit and Run: Revisited. Girlschool continued to tour Europe and South America in 2011-12 and returned in Japan in 2013. In early 2015, they recorded a new album titled 'Guilty as Sin' with producer Chris Tsangarides, which was released on 13 November 2015. On 30 January 2019, it was announced on the band's website that "Girlschool have parted ways once again with bassist Enid Williams" and that Tracey Lamb would return to replace her.
In 2023, Girlschool, now consisting of Kim McAuliffe on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Denise Dufort on drums, Tracey Lamb on bass and Jackie Chambers on lead guitar have unveiled a video for their new single “Are You Ready?” from their upcoming studio album WTFortyfive?, which will be released on July 28, 2023.

Girlschool Lyrics

Let slow life pass us by
Another mile, another day
Get some action in our lives
We're on our way
Living for today
C'mon, let's go (let go)
Let's go
Engines screaming red-hot rage
We're gonna reach an all-time high
Speed crazed racer rip my mind
'Cause you know you're gonna hit the sky
We make our move
And you know we'll never lose
We're on our way
Living for today
We make our move
And you know we'll never lose
C'mon, let's go (let go)
C'mon let's go (let go, hey)
C'mon let's go (let go, hey)
Let's go
The Girlschool song "C'mon Let's Go" is a perfect anthem for those who seek an escape from the mundane routine of day-to-day life. The lyrics suggest that the driving force behind life should be action, and not passivity. The band encourages their listeners to seize the day and live for the moment, without any concern for the consequences. The song is fast-paced and high-energy, and it perfectly captures the spirit of rebellion and excitement that characterizes a young person's desire for adventure.
The lyrics tell the story of a group of friends who are driving down the highway, leaving their troubles behind and seeking adventure. The verses describe the feeling of being alive on the open road, with the promise of endless possibilities ahead. The chorus chants "C'mon, let's go" repeatedly, creating a sense of urgency and excitement. There is a clear sense of rebellion in the song, with lines like "Speed crazed racer rip my mind" suggesting that the band finds thrill in taking risks and challenging the status quo.
Overall, "C'mon Let's Go" is a song that encourages listeners to embrace their wild side and chase their dreams with reckless abandon. The lyrics are simple and straightforward, but they convey a powerful message of determination and passion. The song is a classic example of Girlschool's signature sound, and it remains a favorite among fans of the genre to this day.

This song is pure RnR. As Lemmy said : “Some people have called us punks and others refer to us as being a heavy metal band. But I just think what we do is rock’n’roll, nothing else.
