What you gonna do when she comes around
And she starts going through her act
Will she make you to you change your act
Will your love for me remain intact
Or will you run to her
Baby, my love is on the line
Don't change it
Be strong and leave the past behind
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it, don't you change it
Ooh, you say your love is true
What'cha gonna say when she looks at you
Will the seconds in your head
Make you take back the thing you said
Will you give me real despair
Or will you stay with me
Baby, my love is on the line
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it
Be strong and leave the past behind
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it, don't you change it
I will exit and take a bow
But I don't want to do it now
So I'm thinking someway somehow
Baby, you'll stay with me
Baby, my love is on the line
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it
Be strong and leave the past behind
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it, don't change it
You know she's not the staying kind
Baby, don't ya change your mind
Don't change it
You know my love is genuine
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it
Baby, my love is on the line
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it
Be strong and leave the past behind
Baby, don't change your mind
Don't change it
The lyrics of Gladys Knight's song Baby Don't Change Your Mind are a plea to a lover to stay steadfast in their commitment even when faced with the return of an old flame. The song captures the insecurity and vulnerability that comes with loving someone and fearing that they might find someone better. The verses paint a picture of a situation many people can relate to: the ex coming to town and the doubts this raises. The chorus is a reassurance that the love is genuine and that the singer's partner should not let their past dictate their future.
The lyrics are open to interpretation, and the listener can project their own experiences onto them. Some may see the song as a caution against jumping into old relationships with rose-tinted glasses, while others may see it as a bold declaration of love and loyalty. Regardless of how one interprets the lyrics, it is clear that the song is a powerful plea to a lover not to waver in their commitment.

Always is. My first musical memory was a Gladys tune: If You Ever Get Your Hands On Love from 1967. Over 50 years later, it STILL gives me goosebumps when I hear that bassline opening few bars.
Trust me... Absolutely heart grabbing song ❤
