Knight started to record solo material due to legal issues that forced her and The Pips to record separately. Her solo debut "Miss Gladys Knight" was released in 1978 followed by "Gladys Knight" on Colombia Records. Knight recorded the title track for the James Bond movie "Licence To Kill." It became a Top 10 hit in the UK, peaking at #6. Knight's third solo album, "Good Woman" was released in 1991 on MCA Records (now Geffen Records). The album quickly climbed the charts to #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album features the lead single, "Men" (#2 R&B). Her fourth album, "Just For You" followed in 1995. The album went Gold. Knight most recent album is her critically acclaimed ninth studio album, "Before Me", released in 2006.
Do You Hear What I Hear
Gladys Knight Lyrics

Pay no attention to what's said.
Why people tear the seams of anyone's dreams
Is over my head.
Do nothing till you hear from me,
At least consider our romance.
I haven't a chance.
True, I've been seen with someone new,
But does that mean that I've been untrue?
When we're apart,
The words in my heart
Reveal how I feel about you.
Some kiss may cloud my memories,
And other arms may hold a thrill,
But please, do nothing till you hear it from me--
And you never will.
~interlude~
Some kiss may cloud my memories,
And other arms may hold a thrill,
But please, do nothing till you hear it from me--
And you never will.
Gladys Knight's rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear" is a song about loyalty, trust, and communication in a relationship. The lyrics convey a message of warning to the person she loves that they should not pay attention to gossip, rumors, or other people's opinions before they hear her side of the story. The song's opening lines, "Do nothing till you hear from me, Pay no attention to what's said," emphasize the importance of hearing both sides of the story before making any decision. The singer is troubled by how people can easily tear down someone's dreams, but she reminds her lover that she will always communicate the truth to him when the time is right.
The lyrics go on to reveal a vulnerable side of the singer, as she admits to being seen with someone new. Meanwhile, she reassures her lover that her heart belongs only to him, and that he should never listen to rumors or gossip. The lyrics are straightforward and honest, creating an intimate and heartfelt message. The words in the song serve as a declaration of love and loyalty, as well as a plea for understanding and trust. All in all, the song encourages building and maintaining strong relationships through open communication, trust, and honesty.

I heard this song for the first time on the radio in the early 1990s. I fell in love with it. I wanted to hear it again, never did until over 10 years later. Now I can just type it in listen to it any time I want
