I'm Still Searching
Glass Tiger Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh, the rumors are vicious, my ears are burning
It's been a long hard day
Telephone rings, I still got nothing to say
Considerations tossed out the window
I feel a little bit wired
The rules say anything goes but I don't want to play

You said I could walk away
Take me back to where my life burns

I'm still searching for something
I'm still looking for someone
But I'm caught in the middle
Of a broken heart and a life on the run

Took a long walk down through the backstreets
I heard the city scream
Reminds me of the time I run wicked and free

And now here I stand all alone
But I'm back to where my life burns

I'm still searching for something
I'm still looking for someone
But I'm caught in the middle
Of a broken heart and a life on the run

One heart, one home
But I'm still holding on
I've loved, but I've roamed
And now I'm going home, going home, yeah

I'm still searching for something
Still looking for someone
But I'm caught in the middle
Of a broken heart and a life on the run

I'm still searching for something
I'm still looking for someone
But I'm caught in the middle
Of a broken heart and a life on the run

A broken heart and a life on the run
A broken heart, life on the run

Overall Meaning

The song "I'm Still Searching" by Glass Tiger is an emotional journey of a man who is caught between his desire to fulfill his dreams and his longing for a stable life with someone he loves. The lyrics express his feelings of confusion and vulnerability as he tries to balance his ambitions and his personal life. The opening lines "Oh, the rumors are vicious, my ears are burning. It's been a long hard day. Telephone rings, I still got nothing to say. Considerations tossed out the window" paint a picture of a man who is under a lot of pressure, maybe from rumors about him, work or personal life, and is unable to find a way out. He feels wired, like he is expected to do something he does not want to, but he also doesn't want to be rude.

The chorus "I'm still searching for something. I'm still looking for someone. But I'm caught in the middle of a broken heart and a life on the run" captures the theme of the song, which is the search for something meaningful. The person is still searching for something he has not found yet, and he is looking for someone who can make him complete. However, he is caught in the middle of a broken heart and a life on the run, indicating his current challenges.

The last verse "took a long walk down through the backstreets, I heard the city scream. Reminds me of the time I run wicked and free. And now here I stand all alone, but I'm back to where my life burns" show how the person has changed. He remembers his past, but at the same time realizes that he needs to move on, to where his life burns. This is where he has to deal with his broken heart and life on the run. The lyrics, combined with the music, create a sense of longing and sadness, making it a powerful track.

I remember those days! You had to wait for it to me on tv. I remember watching Video Hits with Samantha Fox, after school, with a blank tape in the VCR, all ready to record Glass Tiger when they came on.

You know what I think is kinda weird? Okay, for those of us who are a bit older, things that were nostalgic for us (like Glass Tiger videos), we experienced them, and then they pretty much went away - then 80s came and went, and there wasn't any Youtube or Internet yet, so, you couldn't conjure up the things from your past...you couldn't watch GT videos or whatever.

When the Internet and everything happened, it was like a Tresure Chest, to me - I could look up old 80s movies, tv shows, commercials, music, everything.

But, for people born later on, they didn't have that time period where they couldn't look up their nostalgic stuff. It was just always there for them.

To me, being the age I am, that would be odd to have just always had that there at your fingertips.

It kinda would have taken the fun out of it, too, if you ask me. It wouldn't have felt like a Treasure Chest if I could have just accessed it all along.

I still remember watching this video for the very first time as a young teenager back in 1988 on CBC Video Hits. I was a fan of the first album, The Thin Red Line, and this was from a brand new album release with new music, new sound, and a slightly new look for the band. It took a little bit of time for this album to grow on me when I was a kid since I was more used to their pop-sounding songs from the first album, but looking back this was a great album with a more maturer sound, which I definitely like way more as an adult now.

Canadian bands are underrated. Underrated would be an understatement. This is music to my ears.
