Members Benjamin Hannam (guitar, vocals), Cameron Holdstock (bass), Sam Speck (guitar) and Daniel Muszynski (drums) formed the group around Hannams solo bedroom recording project in early 2008 during a music class at school. The band opened the mainstage at Splendour In The Grass 2009 at the age of 17 and were finalists in Triple J's Unearthed High Competition for 2010. They released their debut EP "What We Were, When We Were" in 2011 amidst a year of heavy touring activity around Australia.

Glass Towers Lyrics

Channel on the,
TV oh, we're wasting our time again,
Won't you
Please shut the door,
Collarbone jungle, I call late,
But you're not at home again,
I know I would like to, take what you want to.
I don't mind, if you don't mind is,
All that you want to, know what you'd like to do.
She said time'd pass me by.
The weekend is over when we sigh,
And all I want is a little more time.
So feed me a lie, won't you be here tonight,
And you know,
Don't you go.
I know I would like to, take what you want to.
I don't mind, if you don't mind is,
All that you want to, know what you'd like to do.
She said time'd pass me by.
I know I would like to, take what you want to.
I don't mind, if you don't mind is,
All that you want to, know what you'd like to do.
She said time'd pass me by.
The lyrics of Glass Towers's "Jumanji" seem to be about wasting time, longing for something more, and the constant search for an escape. The reference to the Discovery Channel on the TV may symbolize a desire for knowledge and exploration, but at the same time, it can also represent a form of escapism where we get lost in distractions and mindless entertainment. The line "Collarbone jungle, I call late, but you're not at home again" may refer to being lost in a chaotic and confusing world, trying to reach out to someone for help, but finding no solace.
The chorus "I know I would like to, take what you want to. I don't mind, if you don't mind is, All that you want to, know what you'd like to do. She said time'd pass me by" seems to be about giving up control and letting someone else take the lead. It can also mean being willing to follow someone blindly, not caring about the consequences, as long as it brings us some kind of fulfillment. The line "She said time'd pass me by" reinforces the sense of urgency and the fleeting nature of time.
