Blaine:
Your story sad to tell
A teenage ne'er do well
Most mixed up non-delinquent on the block
Your future's so unclear now
What's left of your career now?
Can't even get a trade in on your smile
New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana:
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah

Blaine (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana):
Boom, (La la la) ba-doom, (La la la) ba-doom,
(La la laaa) Ba-doom, ba-da-da-doom
(La la la la la la) Ba-doom, (La la la la la la) ba-doom,
(La la la la la la la) Ba-doom

Blaine:
Beauty school dropout
No graduation day for you
Beauty school dropout
Missed your midterms and flunked shampoo
Well at least you could have taken time, to wash and clean
your clothes up
After spending all that dough to have the doctor fix your nose
up

Baby get moving (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Baby get moving)
Why keep your feeble hopes alive?
What are you proving? (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: What are you proving?)
You've got the dream but not the drive

Blaine with New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana harmonizing:
If you go for your diploma, you could join a steno pool
Turn in your teasin' comb and go back to high school!

New Directions Girls, Kitty and Santana:
La la la la la la la la

Blaine:
Beauty school dropout (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Beauty school dropout)
Hanging around the corner store
Beauty school dropout (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Beauty school dropout)
It's about time you knew the score

Blaine with New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana harmonizing:
Well they couldn't teach you anything
You think you're such a looker
But no customer would go to you unless she was a hooker!

Blaine:
Baby don't sweat it (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Don't sweat it)
You're not cut out to hold a job
Better forget it (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Forget it)
Who wants their hair done by a slob?

Blaine with New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana harmonizing:
Now your bangs are curled, your lashes twirled, but still the
world is cruel
Wipe off that angel face and go back to high school!

Blaine:
Baby don't blow it
Don't put my good advice to shame
Baby you know it
Even Dear Abby'd say the same!

Blaine with New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana harmonizing:
Now I've called the shot, get off the block, I really gotta
fly!

Blaine:
Gotta be going to that, malt shop, in the sky!

Beauty school dropout (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Beauty school dropout)
Go back to high school
Beauty school dropout (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Beauty school dropout)
Go back to high school

Beauty school dropout (New Directions Girls, Kitty, and Santana: Beauty school dropout)
Go back to high school

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Beauty School Drop Out describe the story of a teenage ne'er-do-well who has failed to graduate from beauty school, missed midterms, and flunked shampoo. The future looks bleak for the singer as they cannot even get a trade-in on their smile. The New Directions girls, Kitty, and Santana offer a supportive ah-ah-ah in the background. Blaine advises the singer to forget about holding a job and accept that they are not cut out for it, and instead go back to high school.

The song is a part of the musical Grease and is sung by Frankie Avalon to the character of Frenchy, who drops out of beauty school. The Glee Cast version is a cover of the song and features Darren Criss as Blaine, along with the New Directions girls and Santana. The song is an upbeat, catchy tune that encourages the singer to not give up on their dreams but redirect their efforts towards education. Overall, the lyrics are a not-so-subtle reminder that education is important and should not be taken for granted.

His singing is ON POINT. His looks are ON POINT. And his acting is SO ON POINT, his reaction to Kurt is so sincere, it's absolutely believable that everything that happened between their two characters was real.

@Stefan Richard They are friends. It's just that they don't upload pics together in social media, and not because of them, but because his wife and Colfer's boyfriend. Some crazy people attacked (via DM) so bad his wife and Colfer's bf years ago.

Ashley Hall

@Stefan Richard uh what? No literally their significant others were receiving death threats and boxes of weird shit like hair from people IN REAL LIFE who stanned CrissColfer

Stefan Richard

@Ashley Hall A random person on the internet is the reason he can't be friends with Chris Colfer in real life? The man needs to grow a spine if that's how he decides who he will and will not be friends with. Sad.

Ashley Hall

@tagapril42 you seem bitter. You know you're the reason he and Chris Colfer can't be friends anymore, right? People like you are actively negatively impacting the lives of people you claim to like.

tagapril42

@Chelsea McMillen lol yep, he declared no more gay roles because he didn't want to take away from gay actors. That will torpedo his career because he plays gay better than he plays straight. That's why he's spent almost the entire pandemic doing flaming gay videos, started wearing his nail polish again right after his "marriage" when he hadn't worn it for years. And don't say it's pride month because pride month isn't all year long. He's got a "wedding" ring on so now so he can be as pan, gay or bi as he wants with no question because he can simply flash his ring and say "I'm married." And his wife hasn't worked a day since the "wedding" so we know what her job is now. Play the wifey.

However, Jane Lynch said it when she told an audience that nobody else could play Blaine. And she's right.

I love how Kurt distracts Blaine and that they're looking at each other in the eyes, even though they broke up.
