Glory Days
Glee Cast Lyrics

Puck:
Yeah, c'mon
Whoo!
I had a friend, was a big baseball player
Back in high school
He could throw that speed ball by you
Make you look like a fool, boy
Finn:
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside, sat down, had a few drinks
But all he kept talking about

Both:
Glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Puck:
Well, there's a girl that lives up the block
Back in school, she could turn all the boys' heads
Sometimes, on a Friday I'll stop by and have a few drinks
After she put her kids to bed

Finn:
Her husband Bobby, well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times
She says, when she feels like crying, she starts laughing

Both:
Thinking 'bout glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days
Alright boys, watch me work it now
Work it now

Puck:
Woo, think I'm going down to the well tonight
I'm going to drink until I get my fill
And I hope when I get old, I don't sit around thinking about it
But I probably will

Finn:
Yeah, just sitting back, trying to recapture
A little of the glory of
Well, the time slips away and leaves you with nothing, mister
But boring stories of

Both:
Glory days, yeah they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Well, they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

What about this
All right, ooh yeah
All right
Woah, c'mon now
Oh yeah, all right
It's alright
Ooh yeah, oh yeah
All right, all right
C'mon now
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

All right boys!

Keep rockin' now!
Woo, glory days!

Overall Meaning

The Glee Cast's song "Glory Days" is a tale of nostalgia and reminiscing about the past. The verses alternate between Puck and Finn, each telling a story of a person from their past. Puck begins by telling the story of a friend who was an exceptional baseball player back in high school. He recalls that the friend could throw a speedball that could make people look like fools. Finn then tells the story of a girl who lived up the block from him, who could turn all the boys' heads. He mentions that her husband and she are now separated, and they often sit around recounting their old times.

The chorus is where both Puck and Finn come together, singing "Glory Days, well, they'll pass you by, Glory Days, in the wink of a young girl's eye, Glory Days, Glory Days." The song, written by Bruce Springsteen, is about the fleeting nature of youth and how quickly time passes. The characters in the song are looking back on their younger days, where everything seemed possible, and life was full of opportunity. But now, they are reminded that time waits for no one, and those Glory Days are now behind them.
