The cast is second behind The Beatles for most chart appearances by a group act in the Billboard Hot 100's history, and holds the record of sixth overall among all artists, with sixty-nine appearances. The cast has sold over thirty six million and over eleven million albums worldwide. The series' cover versions have also had a positive effect on the original recording artists, with sales of Rihanna's "Take a Bow" increasing by 189 percent after the song was covered in the Glee episode "Showmance".
The series features covers of numerous songs sung on-screen by the characters. Musical segments typically take the form of performances, as opposed to the characters singing spontaneously, as the intention is for the series to remain reality-based. Murphy is responsible for selecting all of the songs used, and strives to maintain a balance between show tunes and chart hits, as: "I want there to be something for everybody in every episode. That's a tricky mix, but that's very important — the balancing of that." Song choices are integral to script development, with Murphy explaining: "Each episode has a theme at its core. After I write the script, I will choose songs that help to move the story along."
Glee is choreographed by Zach Woodlee, and features five to eight production numbers per episode. Once music rights are cleared, songs are arranged and pre-recorded by the cast. Woodlee constructs the accompanying dance moves, which are then taught to the cast and filmed. Numbers can take several weeks to prepare, depending on complexity. Each episode costs at least $3 million to produce, and can take up to 10 days to film as a result of the elaborate choreography.

I can too
(Pam-pam-pam-pam-pam)
Come on swing it, c-come on swing it
Come on swing it, c-come on swing it
One two three
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
Yo! It's about that time
To bring forth the rhythm and the rhyme
I'm a get mine so get yours
I wanna see sweat comin' out your pores
On the house tip is how I'm swingin' this
Strictly Hip-Hop boy, I ain't singin' this
Bringing this to the entire nation
Black, white, red, brown feel the vibration
Come on come on, feel it feel it
Feel the vibration
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
Vibrations good like Sunkist
Many wanna know who done this
Marky Mark and I'm here to move you
Rhymes will groove you
And I'm here to prove to you
That we can party on the positive side
And pump positive vibes
So come along for the ride
Making you feel the rhythm is my occupation
So feel the vibration
Come on come on, feel it feel it
Feel the vibration!
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
Donnie D break it down
Donnie D's on the back up
Drug free, so put the crack up
No need for speed
I'm the anti D-R-U-G-G-I-E my
Body is healthy
My rhymes make me wealthy
And the Funky Bunch helps me
To bring you a show with no intoxication
Come on feel the vibration
Yeah, can you feel it baby
I can too!
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
Now the time has come for you to get up
The rest had you fed up but Yo, I won't let up
On the rhythm and rhyme that's designed to
Make your behind move to what I'm inclined to
Pure Hip Hop, no sell out if you ain't in it to win it
Then get the hell out
I command you to dance I wanna see motivation
Come on now feel the vibration
It's such a good vibration (c'mon, c'mon, c'mon)
It's such a sweet sensation (feel it feel it)
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
Feel the vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
It's such a good vibration
It's such a sweet sensation
It's such a good vibration
The Glee Cast’s version of “Good Vibrations” is a cover of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch’s 1991 hit song, which features rapper Mark Wahlberg, now known as Mark Wahlberg, and backing group the Funky Bunch. The lyrics of the song speak about the positive vibrations that we can feel and share across different communities. It encourages listeners to embrace rhythm and rhyme as a way of expressing one’s self, and to spread positive vibes wherever you go.
The song opens with the repetitive drums that are reminiscent of 90s hip-hop music. The lyrics of the first verse describe the need to bring forth rhythm and rhyme to get the party started. The rapper encourages everyone to join in and get sweaty, stressing again the importance of everyone feeling the positive vibrations. The chorus is catchy and memorable, with a repetition of the lines “It’s such a good vibration, it’s such a sweet sensation.” The second verse talks about the rapper’s healthy lifestyle, and continues to promote positivity in all aspects of life. The song ends with the catchy chorus and fades a cappella.

Did anyone else notice that Finn nailed this song and it was by far one of his best vocal performances? "Pucky Puck" wasn't all bad, but Finn nailed this performance. Clearly edged "rap" was his thing.
