The cast is second behind The Beatles for most chart appearances by a group act in the Billboard Hot 100's history, and holds the record of sixth overall among all artists, with sixty-nine appearances. The cast has sold over thirty six million and over eleven million albums worldwide. The series' cover versions have also had a positive effect on the original recording artists, with sales of Rihanna's "Take a Bow" increasing by 189 percent after the song was covered in the Glee episode "Showmance".
The series features covers of numerous songs sung on-screen by the characters. Musical segments typically take the form of performances, as opposed to the characters singing spontaneously, as the intention is for the series to remain reality-based. Murphy is responsible for selecting all of the songs used, and strives to maintain a balance between show tunes and chart hits, as: "I want there to be something for everybody in every episode. That's a tricky mix, but that's very important — the balancing of that." Song choices are integral to script development, with Murphy explaining: "Each episode has a theme at its core. After I write the script, I will choose songs that help to move the story along."
Glee is choreographed by Zach Woodlee, and features five to eight production numbers per episode. Once music rights are cleared, songs are arranged and pre-recorded by the cast. Woodlee constructs the accompanying dance moves, which are then taught to the cast and filmed. Numbers can take several weeks to prepare, depending on complexity. Each episode costs at least $3 million to produce, and can take up to 10 days to film as a result of the elaborate choreography.

Only doll I've ever owned
Now I love you just the way I loved that rag doll
But only now, my love has grown
And it gets stronger in every way
And it gets deeper, let me sayAnd it gets higher, day by day
Do I love you? My, oh, my
River deep, mountain high, yeah, yeah, yeah
If I lost you, would I cry?
Oh, how I love you, baby, baby, baby, baby
When you were a young boy, did you have a puppy
That always followed you around?
Well, I'm gonna be as faithful as that puppy
No, I'll never let you down
'Cause it grows stronger like a river flows
And it gets bigger, baby, and heaven knows
And it gets sweeter, baby, as it grows
Do I love you? My, oh, my
River deep, mountain high, yeah, yeah, yeah
If I lost you, would I cry?
Oh, how I love you, baby, baby, baby, baby
I love you, baby, like a flower loves the spring
And I love you, baby, like the robin loves to sing
And I love you, baby, like a schoolboy loves his pet
And I love you, baby, river deep, mountain high
Oh, baby (oh, baby)
Oh, baby, oh, yeah
Yeah
Do I love you? My, oh, my, yeah
River deep, mountain high, yeah, yeah, yeah
If I lost you, would I cry?
Oh, how I love you, baby, baby, baby, baby
The song "River Deep Mountain High" by Glee Cast is about the deep, profound love that the two singers have for each other. They compare their love to different things, such as the rag doll that the female singer had when she was a child, and the puppy that the male singer had. The main theme, however, is the strength and depth of their love.
The lyrics also mention that their love grows stronger, deeper, and higher every day. The chorus, which is repeated throughout the song, emphasizes the magnitude of their love - "river deep, mountain high." The singers question whether they would cry if they lost each other, which shows how much they rely on each other and how much their love means to them.
Overall, the song is a power ballad that celebrates the intensity of love and the importance of commitment. This song emphasizes the theme of commitment and devotion through the parallelism between the rag doll, the puppy, and the love of the two main characters in the song. It conveys how love can continue to thrive and grow over time, developing into something of great magnitude.

When I was a little girl, I had a rag doll
As a child, I owned nothing but a rag doll
Only doll I've ever owned
That was my only toy
Now I love you just the way I loved that rag doll

But only now, my love has grown
However, my love for you has increased manifold
And it gets stronger in every way
My love for you keeps increasing in every dimension

It also deepens as I continue to love you
And it gets higher, day by day
Moreover, it keeps soaring with each passing day

Similarly, you as a child had a pet dog, right?
That always followed you around?
A loyal companion that never left your side

I, too, will be as faithful and dependable as that dog, if not more
No, I'll never let you down
I will never disappoint or betray you

Ultimately, my love for you knows no bounds, River deep, Mountain high
Do I love you? My, oh, my, yeah
So, do I love you? Oh, it's beyond measure

Of the show
@jordanelza8806
Agreed. I’m pretty sure the only reason Sam and Quinn won instead was because most of the members voted for themselves, with the exception of Finn and Rachel.
@travisgoudelock9182
