The cast is second behind The Beatles for most chart appearances by a group act in the Billboard Hot 100's history, and holds the record of sixth overall among all artists, with sixty-nine appearances. The cast has sold over thirty six million and over eleven million albums worldwide. The series' cover versions have also had a positive effect on the original recording artists, with sales of Rihanna's "Take a Bow" increasing by 189 percent after the song was covered in the Glee episode "Showmance".
The series features covers of numerous songs sung on-screen by the characters. Musical segments typically take the form of performances, as opposed to the characters singing spontaneously, as the intention is for the series to remain reality-based. Murphy is responsible for selecting all of the songs used, and strives to maintain a balance between show tunes and chart hits, as: "I want there to be something for everybody in every episode. That's a tricky mix, but that's very important — the balancing of that." Song choices are integral to script development, with Murphy explaining: "Each episode has a theme at its core. After I write the script, I will choose songs that help to move the story along."
Glee is choreographed by Zach Woodlee, and features five to eight production numbers per episode. Once music rights are cleared, songs are arranged and pre-recorded by the cast. Woodlee constructs the accompanying dance moves, which are then taught to the cast and filmed. Numbers can take several weeks to prepare, depending on complexity. Each episode costs at least $3 million to produce, and can take up to 10 days to film as a result of the elaborate choreography.

Never can say goodbye (Say goodbye boy)
No, no, no, no, now
Never can say goodbye (Say goodbye boy)
Even though the pain and heartache
Seems to follow me wherever I go,
They always seems to show
Then you try to say you're leaving me
And I always have to say no,
Tell me why (Tell me why) is it so (Is it so)
That I, Never can say goodbye (Say goodbye boy)
No, no, no, no, now
Never can say goodbye (Say goodbye boy)
Every time I think I've had enough,
I start heading for the door
There's a very strange vibration,
Piercing me right through the core
It says turn around you fool,
You know you love him more and more
Tell me why (Tell me why) is it so (Is it so)
Don't wanna let you go!
I never can say goodbye boy (Never can say goodbye boy)
Oh Baby (Don't wanna let you go)
I never can say goodbye
No no, no no, (No no)(oh)
Oh, I never can say goodbye boy (I never can say goodbye boy)
Oh Baby, (Don't wanna let you go)
I never can say goodbye
No no, no no, (No no)(oh)
Never can say goodbye (Say goodbye boy)
No, no, no, no, now
Never can say goodbye (Say goodbye boy)
I keep thinking that our problems
Soon are all gonna work out
But there's that same unhappy feeling,
There's that anguish, there's that doubt
It's the same old dizzy hangup,
Can't do with you or without
Tell me why (Tell me why) is it so (Is it so)
Don't wanna let you go!
I never can say goodbye boy (I never can say goodbye boy)
Oh Baby (Hey baby)
I never can say goodbye
No no, no no, (No no)(oh)
Oh, I never can say goodbye boy (I never can say goodbye boy)
Oh (Hey baby)
I never can say goodbye
No no, no no, (No no)(Oh Yeah)
I never can say goodbye boy (I never can say goodbye boy)
Oh Baby (Hey baby)
I never can say goodbye
No no, no no, (No no)(oh)
Oh, I never can say goodbye boy (I never can say goodbye boy)
Oh baby (Hey baby)
I never can say goodbye
No no, no no, (No no)(oh)
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never
I never can say goodbye boy
I got to have you
I never can say goodbye to you
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never
I never can say goodbye boy
I got to have you
I never can say goodbye to you
Ah
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah
The lyrics to "Never Can Say Goodbye" by the Glee Cast are about the emotional struggle of wanting to let go of a relationship, but not being able to. The song is about how the pain and heartache of a relationship follow the person everywhere they go, and even when it seems like they should be able to move on, they just can't. The lyrics convey a sense of desperation and sadness, as the singer can't help but keep holding on to a relationship that may not be healthy or fulfilling. There's a sense of confusion and doubt too, as the singer tries to make sense of why they can't just move on with their life.
Throughout the song, the lyrics also express an underlying theme of love and dedication, despite the difficulties that come with relationships. The singer can't seem to let go of the person they love, even when they know they should. They feel a strong emotional attachment to their partner and can't imagine life without them. There's a feeling of wanting to hold on tight, even when it might not be the best thing to do. The song captures the longing and uncertainty of love, and how difficult it can be to say goodbye to someone you care about.

@girlwiththepurplepen
Thought I'd end up with Biff, but it wasn't a match
Sung some songs with Sam, now I listen and laugh
Even had a baby, and for Puck I'm so thankful
Wish I could say thank you to Finn, cuz he was an angel
Spend more time with my friends, I ain't worthy bout nothing
Plus I met someone else, we having better discussions
I know they say I move on too fast, but this one gon' last
Cuz her name is Lucy, and I'm so good with that!
One day I'll walk down the aisle, holding hands with my daughter
I'll be thanking Rachel, cuz we grew from the drama
Only wanna do it once real bad, gon' make that shit last
God forbid something happens, least me and Santana smashed
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I wish Dianna would’ve had way more solos during her time on Glee. Her voice is so beautiful! 💖
@MaggieHambleton
Ya
@danieldediosluzardo3526
True
@dmf1301
She isn’t a very powerful singer, though. Her voice is sweet, but it’s quite weak.
She couldn’t have handled the same powerful types of songs that Lea and Amber can.
@Nina-ui6wu
She broke her nose twice that's also why she didn't had many solos
@muzainahsaffdar5553
@dmf1301 yh definitely, but I still love her voice and the only way I can describe it is as being pretty
@TheGeekMonster
Dianna is just ridiculously gorgeous in this scene. Like she stepped straight out of a 1950's glamor magazine. She's as close to perfect as any woman could get.
@jacksheeran9818
All 3 guys do so well to portray the “she’s totally talking about me” vibe
a druggie a pevert, and a good guy
@cb_2887
I love that Quinn sang this because this is definitely HER song! Her character arc is probably my favourite. Quinn's been through it and Diana did her justice!
