Washington evolved from humble beginnings. Born in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica he is currently a popular artist in reggae music. this has come after many years of recording and waiting in the wings. In 1997, he released his debut album Brother To Brother and, to date, has released 10 albums.
Washington began his musical career in the early seventies as the lead singer for the group Names And Faces. He later became the lead singer in a band called 35 Incorporated and learned to play the drums under the guidance of, then drummer, Joseph Hill. When Hill left the band, Washington filled the slot, and became a singing drummer.
Washington made his first hit record Rockers Not Crackers in 1978 for the Joe Gibbs Record label; but he did not grace the charts again until the release of the hit Kindness For Weakness in 1998.
Over the years, Washington has recorded sporadically as a solo singer and extensively as a studio drummer and has laid tracks for various artists. Simultaneously, Washington was a full-time drummer (sometimes singer) in several different bands, such as: The Avengers, The Titans, and Happiness Unlimited. With Happiness Unlimited he migrated to the USA to work with Stevie Wonder. The other bands he played with are Calabash and bands that backed Artists such as Leroy Sibbles, Shinehead, Junior Reid, Gregory Isaacs, Sister Carol and the Meditations.
From the resurgence of Glen Washingtonβs singing career, his smooth, raspy, bass voice has often been likened to that of Beres Hammond. Washington says, βBeres is one of my favorite entertainers, so I regard it as a compliment to be compared with him.β With the release of over forty singles and eleven albums in four years, Washington has established himself as not only a singer but also as a songwriter, penning his own songs.
Other albums released by Washington are Canβt You See produced by Jah Life Records; Think About It for Philip Smart; Number One Girl produced by Lloyd Campbell & Jason Sterling, Solitary Red Rose for Ruff Stuff; Canβt Keep A Good Man Down for Don One; Wondering Stranger for Coxone Dodd, Reggae Max for Jet Star, Free Up The Vibes for Stingray and Your Love for Lloyd Campbell & Jason Sterling.
Washington said, βAs a drummer backing other artists, I have toured the world, playing in countries like Japan, North, South and Central America, all over Europe and all the Caribbean Islands. Now I am repeating those trips as the featured artist, and itβs a great feeling to see thousands of fans coming out for my performances."

His mercies endureth for me
Wooy
Let's rise and shine and give Jah the glory
His mercy endureth for me
Make me free like a bird in a tree
Let's sing and shout his praises forever
So the world can see
Knowing that he is the conquering lion
And he can set you free
Jah children open your eyes and see
The meek shall inherit the earth
And the wicked shall get his reward
Promise to give you the world
But don't listen dem boys they a fraud
They'll never get away
no no no, no no no
And if you're weary, tired and heavy laden
Your burden you know he will bear
Jah will protect you so have no fear
You shall be like trees planted by the riverLiving with humbleness there
No more in bondage real(?)
niceness must we share
The meek shall inherit the earth
And the wicked shall get his reward
Promise to give you the world
But don't listen, dem boys they a fraud
They'll never get away no no no
Never get away
Ooh-eeh
Let us stand and give Jah Jah all the glory
Come let us worship His name
He's yesterday and forever the same
He can never fail
He won't put us to shame
When we call on his name
Remember livity is not a game
The ship of the slaver won't sail
And my people are not for sale
Trying to put us in jail
But they come to no avail
They bound to fail
You know they're bound to fail
Let's rise and shine and give
Jah the glory
His mercy endureth for me
Make me free like a bird in a tree
Let's sing and shout his praises forever
So the world can see
Give thanks and praise to his majesty
Let's rise and shine and give Jah the glory
His mercy endureth for me
Make me free like a bird in a tree
His mercy endureth for me
Yeah yeah
For all the world to see
Ooh-eeh
They know his mercy endureth for me
The song "Jah Glory" is a tribute to Jah, the Rastafarian term for God, whose mercy endures forever. The song begins with the singer urging listeners to rise and shine and give Jah the glory. He emphasizes that Jah's mercy endures for him and makes him free like a bird in a tree. The song then goes on to stress the importance of praising and giving thanks to Jah's majesty. The singer notes that Jah can set people free and protect them from fear, and that those who are humble will inherit the earth while the wicked will be punished. The song then takes a more somber turn, with the singer acknowledging the history of slavery and oppression of black people, but noting that despite the attempts to put them in jail or make them slaves, they will not be for sale and will not be defeated.
Overall, "Jah Glory" is a song of praise and defiance, emphasizing the enduring power of Jah's mercy and the strength of the Rastafarian faith in the face of adversity.

Lets sing Jah Glory
We got to do it in Tha Father's name
Singing Halleloooveyah
The Father and the Son is the same.
Am a child of a King
But the way my people are living
Is not like they used to live before
The reggae music I sing
Give me the vibe that is always uplifting
Jah Love and His Mercy is tender and sure.
When our work is all over
At the end of the day
We all should chill for a while and pray
Giving thanks and praise
Because you cant plant corn
And then want to reap peace
According to your work you will get paid.
As a Roots natty dreadlock
Society is after me
Would be living in Justice and Equality
But the harder the battle
Is the sweeter the victory
Reach out to His Majesty and be free.
