After high school, Glenn began recording demos and performing at nightclubs, eventually becoming a respected act in Toronto. He parlayed this success into the release of his first single, "The Thing To Do," in 1998 on Beat Factory/BMG. The song won him a Juno Award for Best R&B Recording. His second single, "Bout Your Love," earned him a Juno nomination.
This exposure eventually landed him a deal with Epic Records. Glenn's debut album, World Outside My Window, was released on March 19, 2002. Fueled by the hit single "Don't You Forget It," the album peaked at #4 on the Billboard charts. He promoted the album by touring with R&B singers Alicia Keys and Tweet, among others.
In 2002, Lewis recorded a cover version of "Superstition" for the tribute album, Conception: An Interpretation of Stevie Wonder's Songs. Glenn also makes a brief appearance in the 2002 film Maid in Manhattan starring Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes. He contributed the song "Fall Again" to the film's soundtrack. A concert DVD, Glenn Lewis Live, was released in 2003.
Glenn prepared his sophomore album, Back For More for release in 2003. The first single, also titled "Back For More," and featuring rapper Kardinal Offishall, was released to radio and a video began to air. Unexplicably, the album was pushed back, first to later in the year, then to 2004. It remains unreleased. In the meantime, Glenn netted a Grammy nomination for his contribution to Stanley Clarke's "Where Is The Love", a duet also featuring Amel Larrieux.
Glenn left Epic Records in 2005, and is currently signed to Underdog Entertainment. According to Glenn's MySpace page, a new album, Remember Me, will see release in the spring of 2007.

Don't You Forget It

Many dreams since then you've fed up come and gone that time might show
But stress don't you let it
Don't you forget it
Trust you'll find your way to love
Hope is what your heart is made of
And don't you forget it
For that little girl
Hold on to your world
And don't you forget it
Don't you forget your way home
For that little girl
Hold on to your world
You're worlds apart from first when life was dark
Understanding what it means to have got
Nothing but your heavy, broken heart
Memories of what used to be
When change comes responsibility
Don't forget where you were ain't where you've been
Life's lessons then
Made you into woman
Hold on, hold on... (Yeah oh ooh)
Don't you be afraid
'Cause a heart beat away
Is all that you'd never think that sentiment will mean to you
No need to cry
You can dry your eyes
'Cause you can count on the love that through the years
Helped you face your fears and subside your tears
Everything will be OK
Don't you be afraid (No)
Don't you be afraid
No, baby
The song "Don't You Forget It" by Glenn Lewis is about reminiscing on the past, acknowledging the challenges that have been faced along the way and encouraging perseverance in the face of adversity. The song begins by acknowledging that life has changed and many dreams may have come and gone but it advises listeners to not let stress consume them nor should they forget the hope that is in their heart. The chorus emphasizes the importance of not forgetting one's roots and where they come from, represented by the metaphorical 'way home' and encourages listeners to hold firmly onto their world, which represents their identity and values. The lyrics acknowledge the reality that adulthood comes with responsibilities but hopes that listeners will not forget the lessons learned in life and that those experiences have played a role in shaping them into the person they are today.
The song is full of heartwarming and inspiring messages, suggesting that life is a journey and one must never forget where they come from, especially during challenging moments. This resonates with many listeners, given that life is often unpredictable, and one can easily lose track of who they are without some form of grounding. Overall, the song conveys a powerful message of perseverance, holding onto one's values, and being grounded in who you are.
