It's not surprising and a pretty normal response actually. She's instictively distancing herself from an awkward situation. She avoids looking at him so that she is not perceived to be in support of his actions. She even stops herself when she initially begins clapping. Her giggling is motivated by a subconscious desire to dismiss the whole thing as just a joke (and/or that others might as well). She's a normal human.
