During the late 1920s and early 1930s, Miller managed to earn a living working as a freelance trombonist in several bands. His first band was formed in 1937 but failed to distinguish itself and eventually broke up.
Following the break-up of his first band, Miller realized that he needed to develop a unique sound, and decided to make the clarinet play a melodic line with a tenor saxophone on the same note, while three other saxophones harmonized. With this sound combination, the Miller band that became the most popular was born in 1938. After a shaky start, it made his new band a nationwide hit.
In 1942, Miller joined the United States Army Air Forces where he continued his musical career with the Army Air Force Band.
On December 15, 1944, Miller was to fly from the United Kingdom to Paris, France, to play for the soldiers who had recently liberated Paris. His plane departed from RAF Twinwood Farm in Clapham, Bedfordshire and disappeared while flying over the English Channel. No trace of the aircrew, passengers or plane has ever been found. Miller's status is missing in action.
His music is still iconic of the time period in which he lived and continues to draw thousands of fans of all age groups.
Glenn Miller was a popular visitor to Bedford and its American Air force bases. He is still remembered to this day by the people of Bedford with a bronze bust displayed on the front of the towns Corn Exchange, and more recently, what remains of the Twinwoods Airfield being renovated as a Glenn Miller Museum and outdoor event site
2) Glenn Miller was a Jamaican reggae and soul artist of the 1960's.
Along with other legendary artists such as Bob Marley & the Wailers and Desmond Dekker he recorded for the Trojan record label.
Georgia On My Mind
Glenn Miller Lyrics

Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Talkin' 'bout Georgia
I'm in Georgia
A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Georgia, sweet Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back
It always leads back to you
I'm in Georgia, Georgia, sweet Georgia
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia forever on my mind
Just an old sweet, sweet song
Keeps Georgia forever on my mind
The lyrics to Glenn Miller's song "Georgia On My Mind" are a testament to the power of nostalgia and longing. The singer spends "the whole day through" thinking about Georgia - not just the physical state itself, but the memories and emotions associated with it. The repeated refrain "Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind" suggests that music is a crucial component in stirring up these memories, as it acts as a sort of trigger for the singer's reminiscences.
The second half of the song delves deeper into the singer's personal relationship with Georgia. They sing about being physically present in the state, allowing the listener to feel a deeper sense of connection to the singer's experience. The image of moonlight shining through the pines evokes a sense of beauty and tranquility, further emphasizing the emotional depth of the singer's longing for Georgia. The final lines, "Just this old, sweet song/Keeps Georgia forever on my mind" suggest that the singer's nostalgia is a permanent fixture in their life, and will continue to persist even as time moves on.

Had to comment again
Physically can't get over this song. 3am and I'm in bed and had to listen again.
So I miss my first love. Been years, 15 to be exact. This struck a nerve with me for some reason. I can't wait to fall in love again and if I get married one day this is my first dance. It's hit me that hard.
Glenn man!!! You got me baby. You really got me.
