And now, the end is near
The end of something important is about to happen

And so I face the final curtain
I am ready to face the final moment of this important thing in my life

Each careful step along the byway
Every step I took in my journey had been carefully considered

But more, much more than this
But in addition to this planning, I have done so much more

I know there were times when you saw me struggling

When I bit off more than I could chew
When I took on more than I could handle

But through it all, when there was doubt
However, through all of the challenges, even when I had doubts,

I ate it up and spit it out
I faced the challenges head-on and conquered them

I faced it all and I stood tall
I faced everything I had to, and I did it with strength and courage

And did it my way
And most importantly, I did everything in my own unique way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I have experienced everything that comes with a full life

Had my fill, my share of losing
I have tasted failure and disappointment along with success and happiness

And now, as tears subside
And now, I am done crying

I find it all so amusing
I find it all to be amusing now that I have experienced it all.

To think I did all that
To think that I have done all these things

And may I say, not in a shy way
And may I say this without any sort of shyness or reserve

For what is a man, what has he got?
What is the true measure of a man, what does he really possess?

If not himself, then he has naught
If he does not have himself, his own soul and unique being, he has nothing

To be honest about expressing how he truly feels

And not the words of one who kneels
Rather than expressing someone else's opinion or submitting to their will

The record shows I took the blows
The evidence available to everyone shows that I have faced adversity and been hit hard by life

And did it my way
But most importantly, I faced everything my way and triumphed.
