Try
GoNorthToGoSouth Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ever wonder 'bout what he's doing
How it's all turned to lies
Sometimes I think that it's better,
To never ask why

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

Funny how the heart can be deceiving
More than just a couple times
Why do we fall in love so easy
Even when it's not right

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

Ever worry that it might be ruined
And does it make you wanna cry
When your out there doing what your doing
Are you just getting by
Tell me are you just getting by, by, by

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns, doesn't mean your gonna die
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try

You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in GoNorthToGoSouth's song "Try" touch on themes of love, heartbreak, and perseverance. The first stanza suggests that the singer is questioning what their former partner is up to now that everything has gone wrong in their relationship. However, instead of dwelling on the past and trying to understand why things turned out the way they did, the singer suggests that it may be easier to just let it go and not bother asking why.

The second stanza continues with the idea that the heart can be deceptive and cause people to fall in love even when it's not right. The chorus then repeats the idea that desire and flames lead to getting burned, but that just because it hurts, it doesn't mean that you won't survive. The singer encourages the listener to keep trying and not to give up, even when things get tough. The final stanza suggests that the singer is asking the listener if they are just getting by and not really living their lives to the fullest. In summary, the song is about moving on from heartbreak and not giving up on love or life despite the pain.

This song is honestly one of the great gifts a person could have Givin the world.

I adore Pink's version. But this guy's clearly pouring his heart out, and I love it. It must have been such a healing song for him.

BRO, I've been listening to these guys for years and always loved this song. You can GUESS MY SURPRISE when one unsuspecting day I was in the car with the radio on where I heard this song... but it wasn't GNTGS! I thought I was hallucinating but it was Pink doing her thing! It made me super happy to know this song got the exposure it deserved.

@ICDogg1

Terrific song, no matter whose version you listen to. Just heard this one for the first time. What struck me is that Pink's version did not really alter it that much. She obviously sings in a higher octave, and there are some nice guitar accents added in her version, but it's a faithful rendition of the song. Since she writes almost all of her stuff, she must have really liked this one a lot when she heard it.

@dfantaxy

I'm a huge P!nk fan and both versions are great! This one is more haunting though.

@sderoski1

Pink brings her talent as a performer to this brilliantly conceived song.

@njmikec

thanks for writing and playing this because it is wonderful

@spiratustreviso9885

These two guys are completely amazing songwriters. How do two young guys write something this profound? Where did they find the inspiration? This just goes to show that real songwriters are just special people, talented in ways the rest of us just aren't. Pink did an amazing job on her version, but these guys wrote it. Nuff said.

@lvbrown1216

I like this version too. Its just as good as Pink's version. I really love the singers voice in this one. Think I may have found my new fav band!!!

Great singer-songwriter composition and recording. Well done. I can see why others have been inspired by this song. Brilliant!
