From that moment on they have been writing songs in a dusty old cellar (that also stored a collection of mounted animals). All across the Netherlands Go Back to the Zoo performed their songs, and all across the Netherlands the people liked it.
In 2008 they recorded an EP with producer Torre Florim (De Staat), which got picked up by national radio. Their single ‘Beam me up’ was used by Nike for a worldwide campaign and after that, things went crazy. Go Back to the Zoo got signed to Universal Music and in May 2009 ‘Beam me up’ was released as their first official single. In December 2009 they released their second single 'Electric' with a video which features the bandmembers as musical transformers. Friday, the 13th of August, Go Back To The Zoo released their debutalbum called 'Benny Blisto'.
In January 2016, Go Back To The Zoo announced their end as Go Back To The Zoo. They continue making other music in another band called St. Tropez.
I'm The Night

To know it all
I descend into limbo
I'm a lonely lone wolf In the desert night my feet grow cold
But I'm on the stereo, stereo, stereo
She grows numb I'm the night
And It's hard, hard, hard when she's gone
But I know, yes I know
And I know, yes I know
I see you later
The other side whispers in my ear
Al the things that I wanna hear, all the things that I wanna hear
She's a sea of thoughts and the city's dark her lips to cold
To be just a passenger, a passenger, a passenger
She grows numb I'm the night
And It's so hard, hard, hard when she's gone
And I know, yes I know
I see you later
And I know, yes I know
I see you later
Through the trees I see shadow's
And I'm scared I'm scared, scared of the black
But I'm there, there, there when she asks
Yes, I'm there, there, there when she asks
And I know, yes I know
I see you later
Ooh, I know, yes I know
I see you later
And I know and I know and I know and I know we're going to the other side x5
The lyrics of "I'm the Night (See You Later)" by Go Back to the Zoo is somewhat abstract, but can be interpreted as a song about a person who is in love with someone who is emotionally distant. The singer of the song is trying to convince their love interest that they will come back to them eventually, even though it is difficult when they are not together. The "lonely lone wolf" imagery highlights the sense of isolation and detachment that the singer feels. The line "Through the trees I see shadow's / And I'm scared I'm scared, scared of the black" suggests that the singer is anxious and unsure about the future of the relationship. However, they still want to be available for their love interest whenever they reach out: "But I'm there, there, there when she asks."
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "I see you later" multiple times, which can be interpreted as the singer's reassurance to their love interest that they will eventually reunite. The repetition of "hard, hard, hard" also emphasizes the difficulty of being apart from one another. The line "She's a sea of thoughts and the city's dark her lips too cold / To be just a passenger" compares the person the singer loves to a mysterious and complex force that they cannot fully understand. Despite this, the singer is determined to make the relationship work: "And I know and I know and I know and I know we're going to the other side."
