Silver Wings
Go Periscope Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dark sky, red eye
She's tearing at the seams
I'm guessing but I think
That it's alright
Oh my!
Visions of the dead
Falling through my head
And the silver wings are going
Now in the clouds that block the dark
And the silver wings are going
Now in the crowds with everyone

The fire's gonna burn me down
You've gotta put me out
You've gotta put me out

I'm just a victim of a hungry crowd
You've gotta help me up
You've gotta drag me off the ground

Are you gonna let me drown?
You've gotta pull me out
You've gotta pull me out

From under shadows of a heavy cloud
You've gotta help me up
You've gotta drag me off the ground

Bright sky, white eye
She's broken and it seems
The terror that we see
Is in my mind
Oh my!
It's like they're dipped in red
All reaching for my head

And the silver wings are going
Now in the clouds that block the dark
And the silver wings are going
Now in the crowds with everyone

The fire's gonna burn me down
You've gotta put me out
You've gotta put me out

I'm just a victim of a hungry crowd
You've gotta help me up
You've gotta drag me off the ground

Are you gonna let me drown?
You've gotta pull me out
You've gotta pull me out

From under shadows of a heavy cloud
You've gotta help me up
You've gotta drag me off the ground

They're reaching for my head
It's like they dipped it in red
The terror that- that I see
And my mind won't let me leave
Dark sky, red eye

The fire's gonna burn me down
You've gotta put me out
You've gotta put me out

I'm just a victim of a hungry crowd
You've gotta help me up
You've gotta drag me off the ground

Are you gonna let me drown?
You've gotta pull me out
You've gotta pull me out

From under shadows of a heavy cloud

You've gotta help me up
You've gotta drag me off the ground

Overall Meaning

The song "Silver Wings" by Go Periscope talks about the struggle of dealing with one's inner demons and the fear of being consumed by them. The opening lines set a foreboding tone with the mention of the dark sky and red eye, suggesting an impending danger. The singer then talks about how he feels that someone close to him is falling apart (tearing at the seams) and how he's trying to make sense of it all. There's a sense of uncertainty and helplessness in his voice as he admits that he's just guessing and hopes that everything will turn out alright.

Next, the song introduces the concept of "silver wings", which could be a metaphor for hope, salvation or a way out of misery. As the chorus kicks in, the silver wings take on a life of their own and the singer imagines them soaring high into the clouds, blocked by darkness but still moving forward. It's a powerful image of resilience and perseverance, which forms the crux of the song.

However, the darkness that the silver wings are fighting against is still present and threatens to engulf the singer. He talks about being a victim of a hungry crowd, which could refer to the pressures of society, addiction or depression. He pleads for help and support, asking the listener to pull him out of his misery and not let him drown. The last verse talks about the terror in his mind and how it refuses to leave, leaving him trapped and vulnerable.

Overall, "Silver Wings" is a deeply personal song that deals with universal themes of hope and despair. It's a hauntingly beautiful reminder that even in the darkest of times, there's always a way forward.

@nii_jiro

This is by far the greatest song I have ever heard. It has the right tempo to take a small step back in relaxation but it's just fast enough to keep everything pumping forward. Just the right combination of everything! I hope to see you guys get more recognition!

Sooo addicted to this song, i don't understand why it has so little views

@thorkik

Because mainstream music by already established musicians is more "safe" to play on the radio, therefore more people listen to that since they know it. (unfortunately)
