20
God Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

During one of the hardest times of my life
What actually changed my life
Was a short spurt of courage
After that one moment
Everything was history
Sometimes we all need that 20 seconds of courage

20 years of miracles
Then and now

Overall Meaning

God's Song 20 is a reflective piece that explores universal themes such as searching for purpose, feeling lost, and grappling with the desire to belong. The opening lines capture the artist's sense of indecisiveness, and they seem to be at a crossroads in their life, wondering whether to take the Metro or wait for something else. They feel trapped in a life they know too well but yearn for something more.

The song then shifts to a series of vivid images that mark different moments in the artist's life – from missing Athens to taxi driving from sunset. The artist is trying to hold on to something, to make sense of the moments that have passed, and the future that is uncertain.

The chorus, "Why can't I have my pot of gold?" captures the essence of the artist's longing to find something, to make sense of the world, and to discover their purpose. The song concludes with a message that we need to repair ourselves from within to win. It's only by building trust and love that we can move beyond violence and begin to flourish as individuals and as a society.
