Five
Godfather Pt.3 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Livin' alone,
Singin' my songs
Thinkin' bout the good times
When you were my own

Lady you taught me
How to hurt and cry,
And each day I'm not with you
I die more inside

Honey sweet lady why did you go?
And leave me here dying
All alone in my world?
It's all gone wrong
Since you've been gone

So give me 5 shots of whiskey
To help kill the misery and pain
You put me through
Thanks for the good times,
For they were the best of my life
I spent with you
Now what can I do?

Walkin' on Broadway
Not havin a care
I see you and your new guy
Who's strokin' your hair
And I can't keep staying
Here in my hometown,
Got to get on with my life somehow
It's all gone wrong
Since you've been gone

So give me 5 shots of whiskey
To help kill the misery and pain
You put me through
Thanks for the good times,
For they were the best of my life

I spent with you
And I still love you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Five" by Godfather Pt.3 express the pain and heartbreak of a man who has been left alone by his lover. The song begins with the singer reflecting on the good times he and his ex-lover shared. He then realizes that she taught him how to hurt and cry, and he struggles to cope with his feelings on a daily basis. The chorus suggests that he turns to alcohol as a coping mechanism, asking for five shots of whiskey to help kill the misery and pain she has put him through.

The second verse focuses on the singer's encounter with his ex-lover and her new beau on Broadway. He realizes that he cannot keep dwelling on his past and must move on with his life somehow. He is grateful for the good times he shared with her but acknowledges that things have gone wrong since she left. He still loves her despite everything, but he must come to terms with the fact that they are no longer together.

Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of raw emotion and vulnerability. The singer is honest about his feelings and does not shy away from expressing his pain. The theme of heartbreak is a common one in music, but Godfather Pt.3 adds a unique perspective to the narrative.

Richie in the sopranos should have given Tony the lucky coat instead of the jacket . Maybe it would have ended differently then.

You’ve gotta admire how loyal Al Neri is to Michael. He could have scrambled for cover himself, but he stayed and blasted a door open and waited for Michael. Also notice how close they are, he calls him “Mikey”. Granted it was in the heat of the moment and I highly doubt he calls him so informally in front of others under normal circumstances, but it says a lot.

@YChromosome99

Good observation 😊

Joey hit Micheal this way because he for sure thought that it would wipe Micheal and every one out. But it backfired and Michael survived but his first mistake was not listening to Vincent

@willn8664

@@Alexxx847 Because Michael thought Vincent was just being a hothead thinking on impulse like Sonny which in a way is kinda understandable. But in this moment Vincent was actually right. I think the way Vincent tried to present the issue to Michael though was not right. Especially after Vincent bit off a piece of Joey Zasa's ear during that private meeting.
