Penetrate
Godheads Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've got nothing to penetrate
And I've got nothing to elevate
I can't seem to concentrate
'Cause I've got nothing to consecrate.

I wouldn't know the solution.
'Cause this ain't my revolution.
I practice my prostitution
And spread the people's pollution.

I've got nothing to mediate
And I've got nothing to dedicate
I can't seem to separate
'Cause I've got nothing to liberate.

I wouldn't know the solution.
'Cause this ain't my revolution.
I practice my prostitution
And spread the people's pollution.

I've got no one to aggravate
And I've got no one to emulate

You want me to assimilate
But I'm not going to imitate.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Godhead's song "Penetrate" explore feelings of emptiness and a lack of purpose. The opening lines suggest a lack of direction or motivation, and a difficulty focusing on anything meaningful. The repetition of the phrase "I've got nothing" emphasizes the singer's sense of hopelessness and despair. The next lines use a clever wordplay to suggest that the singer sees themselves as part of the problem rather than the solution. They describe themselves as practicing "prostitution" and "spreading the people's pollution," implying that they are complicit in the very things they would like to change. The line "this ain't my revolution" further underscores the singer's sense of disconnection.

The second verse echoes the themes of the first, with the repetition of "I've got nothing" emphasizing the singer's lack of purpose or direction. The use of "meditate" and "dedicate" suggest a desire for spiritual or emotional fulfillment, while the line "I've got nothing to liberate" implies that the singer feels trapped or stuck. The third verse introduces a sense of rebellion, with the line "I've got no one to aggravate," implying that the singer has given up on trying to please others. The line "you want me to assimilate / but I'm not going to imitate" suggests that the singer is rejecting societal norms and expectations in favor of finding their own path.

I'm so proud of myself I got my strictly metalhead husband into goth with this soundtrack and movie!!

@lenayacarter2376

my mom used to be a huge metal head when she was my age and this was her favorite movie for a long long time. She didn't want me to watch this movie at first but when I told her I liked it at 4 or 5 years old she let me watch the "cleaner" parts of it. And as I got older she let me watch more and more of it. I think I was 10 when she let me watch the whole movie. It's one of my favorite movies ever and I really wish there was more to /this/ story. The soundtrack is incredible and its the sole reason I grew up loving heavy metal. None of my other friends do but I can't get enough of it sometimes.

@krc1597

Lenaya Carter this movie probably opened up your sexual side at a very young age 😂😊

@shrineofwill

Nothing wrong with watching horrors at a young age I was 4 when I watched Freddy Nightmare on elm street lol
