Over their 34 year career (with hiatuses), Godiego have released 25 singles and 55 albums.
They are perhaps best known for performing the song "Monkey Magic" for the 1978 television series "Saiyūki," which was brought over to the United Kingdom as "Monkey." This led to several releases through BBC Records, including "Monkey Magic," "Gandhara," and the LP "Monkey," which charted in the UK. Godiego are also noteworthy for performing the theme song "Galaxy Express 999" (Three-Nine) for the animated movie, and for the soundtrack to the 1977 Nobuhiko Obayashi film "House," in which they also appear in a brief cameo.
They were the first rock band to play in the People's Republic of China as well as Nepal.

Godiego Lyrics
Don't turn your back on me
Or try to run away from me
The truth is plain to see
Of what you've done to me
We once were simple and true
Strong but gentle, too
You wanted to be on top
You began but wouldn't stop
You cut me down and hurt me
You tried to conquer me
You ravaged me, sure and slow
I was left only a shadow
You lost yourself somewhere
'Cause you started not to care
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Regain, regain, regain, regain your heart again
Take the long road home
There's nothing you can own
Here in Africa
I'm waiting here for you
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
We once were simple and true
Strong but gentle, too
Blood is on your hands
It's soaked into the land
You've started wondering
Is this what you were wanting
I hold the secret key
To what you really need
The key to rediscovery of the soul in you and me
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Regain, regain, regain, regain your heart again
Take the long road home
There's nothing you can own
Here in Africa
I'm waiting here for you
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
Return, return, return, return to Africa
