It's a Long Night
Golem Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Wild creatures in a farm
We crunch, we bark, we howl
Black clouds, a sneering moon
And now that you are here
In the world in which believe
Try to gain the highest place
It's a long night
Never sleep, never close and eye
And you
It's a long night
Never move, stay, keep on silent
We try, every day
To save us all, to run away
The Black Farmer is always there
Waiting for the moment he will bring you to hell
And now that you are here
In the world in which believe
Run for cover, you're not over
If you are far from that kill
It's a long night
Never sleep, never close and eye
And you
It's a long night
Never move, stay, keep on silent
And when the moment comes
Think back to what is gone
The lack of love, your end is near
Look at the Farmer without fear
And now that you are here
In the world in which believe
Try to gain the highest place
Look your neighbour in his face
It's a long night
Never sleep, never close and eye
And you
It's a long night
Never move, stay, keep on silent
And when the moment comes
Think back to what is gone
The lack of love, your end is near
Look at the Farmer without fear
The lyrics of Golem's "It's a Long Night" paint a picture of running wild like animals in a farm at night with a sneering moon and black clouds overhead. The lyrics suggest a feeling of being trapped and hunted with the looming presence of the "Black Farmer" who is waiting for the perfect moment to take them to hell. The song is a warning to stay alert and vigilant as the long night never ends and the threat never goes away. The lyrics urge the listener to try and gain the highest place and to look their neighbor in the face to survive.
The song also suggests a theme of regret with lines like "Think back to what is gone, the lack of love, your end is near." The lyrics suggest that the lack of love and care will lead to an untimely end, and thus the listener should value their relationships and appreciate them. The song creates a sense of urgency to be aware of one's surroundings and appreciate the people around them.
