Black Balloon
Goo Goo Dolls Lyrics
Baby's black balloon makes her fly
I almost fell into that hole in your life
And you're not thinking about tomorrow
'Cause you were the same as me
But on your knees
A thousand other boys could never reach you
How could I have been the one
I saw the world spin beneath you
And scatter like ice from the spoon
Comin' down the world turned over
And angels fall without you there
And I go on as you get colder
Or are you someone's prayer
You know the lies that they always told you
And the love you never knew
What's the things they never showed you
That swallowed the light from the sun
Inside your room
Comin' down the world turned over
And angels fall without you there
And I go on as you get colder
Or are you someone's prayer
And there's no time left for losin'
When you stand they fall
Comin' down the world turned over
And angels fall without you there
And I go on as you grow colder
All because I'm
Comin' down the years turn over
And angels fall without you there
And I'll go on to bring you home
All because I'm
All because I'm
And I'll become
What you became to me

"Black Balloon" is the third single to be released from the Dizzy Up the Girl album by the Goo Goo Dolls.
This song, according to the band's frontman Johnny Rzeznik, is about a woman with a heroin addiction and how her lover is desperately trying to save her. He has also said that is about "seeing someone you love that is so great just screw up so bad." Speculation as to the song's subject has included bassist Robby Takac's ex-wife (who overdosed on heroin). Like many other songs by the Goo Goo Dolls, "Black Balloon" uses an unusual alternate tuning. Several electric guitars used in the introduction and the acoustic rhythm guitar are tuned to an open D-flat fifth chord.

I remember this song playing in my car as I drove 1500 miles to college. It was 4am and I was the only one on the highway. It was such a beautiful moment.

Those are the best moments to really take it the beauty of a song. Without any other distractions, it’s just you and listening to the song.

6 years off heroin, from couch surfing to looking at a second property, this song was amazing to hear high, guess what its even better to hear sober in accomplished reflection

Barack, God bless you sir. June 2, 2022 will be five years ago since my 21 year old son died from a heroin/fentanyl overdose. His name was Nick had we had twenty wonderful and magical years together. He was my only child.
He didn't have a clue what his actions would do to me, my wife April and many, many friends who are still suffering from his death.
I'm so happy for you that you were able to get off heroin and survive the nightmare that is opioid addiction.
Peace be with you and your family.

My brother fought it most of his life, it took him away from us in 2015 . He had a problem but it never changed what a good big brother he was to me .
