Lazy Eye
Goo Goo Dolls Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Once been drowned, our secret lives
Everyone that needs to hide
Cheaper reign of endless lies
Filters though this lazy eye

And I don't believe in signs
No, I don't believe your lies
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown

Lose yourself in no one's life
Trapped in nowhere's empty light
Words like fists they tear you down
Crash before they hit the ground

And I don't believe in signs
No, I don't believe your lies

Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown

And I don't believe in sings
No, I don't believe your lies
No, I don't believe your lies

Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown
Caught in the breakdown

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Goo Goo Dolls' "Lazy Eye" paint a picture of someone trapped in their own secret, isolated world. The lines "Once been drowned, our secret lives, everyone that needs to hide" suggest that the person has been isolated and disconnected from society for some time. They have been "drowned" in their own secrets and lies, and have become accustomed to living in isolation.

The phrase "Cheaper reign of endless lies, filters through this lazy eye" suggests a sense of apathy and resignation. The person has become so accustomed to living a life of lies that their perception of reality has become filtered through a "lazy eye". They are unable to see things clearly and have become complacent in their ways.

The chorus emphasizes the feeling of being "caught in the breakdown" and unable to escape. The repetition of this phrase suggests a sense of hopelessness and despair. The chorus also suggests that the person has become jaded and disillusioned with life, stating "I don't believe in signs, no I don't believe your lies". This line may suggest that the person has been hurt so many times that they have stopped believing in anything or anyone.

Overall, the lyrics to "Lazy Eye" depict a person who has become trapped in their own world of lies and isolation, unable to see things clearly or believe in anything. The repetition of the phrase "Caught in the breakdown" emphasizes the feeling of being trapped and unable to escape.

@vinny-3-

That's probably because hardly anyone listen to their music from movie soundtracks and always expects everything to be like IRIS not that it is bad song but that is like a song that everyone thinks the goo goo dolls is but Lazy eye is another story this was a year before iris came out and everyone loved it and of course goo goo dolls became so famous I wish more people exposed themselves to the goo goo dolls more than just iris but this song is badass
