Good
Good Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So I asked how you were doin
And you said you were doing good
Yeah good
I guess it’s fine
I rode my bike to someplace safe
And still fell right on my face
Can you relate?
Does make me look like an asshole
When I correct your dumb mistake
At least I know the difference between good and well
You’re so concerned with being good enough
You’re so concerned and I feel bad
I guess it’s fine
I nearly made it that sounds lame
I’m always stuck at second place
Can you relate
Now you say I’m a asshole
Well look who’s grammar is awful
Yeah I correct your dumb mistakes
At least I know the difference between good and well
I couldn’t tell
I couldn’t tell what you meant
I asked how you were doing
And you said you were doing good
I couldn’t tell if you meant
Good not well
Good or well
Well not good
I couldn’t tell what you meant
I know it’s pretty stupid
In this song, Good speaks about the societal pressure to be “good enough” and how it can consume a person’s thoughts and actions. The lyrics speak to a personal encounter with someone who is so concerned with being perceived as “good enough” that they can’t even accurately convey their own state of being. The repeated phrase “I asked how you were doing / And you said you were doing good / Yeah good” represents the struggle of communicating with someone who is too focused on their own image to express themselves genuinely.
Good then shares their own personal experience of failure, falling off their bike even when attempting to find a “safe” place. Good questions whether others can relate to their own blunders and doubts, and as the song progresses, it becomes clear that Good is tired of people who prioritize being “good” over being authentic. The line “I bet I look like an asshole / Does make me look like an asshole” speaks to the pressure to appear “good” in front of others, even if it means not correcting their “dumb” mistakes.
The song culminates in Good’s frustration at not being able to discern whether the person they inquired about is truly doing well or just putting up a façade. Overall, the lyrics speak to the importance of authenticity and genuine connection over the pressure to be perceived as “good enough”.

Brad played absolutely unreal!! That score in those conditions really shows his skills on the course!
Real
It shows that despite him being a "pro", he's in that area between a Tour Pro and scratch. Which is really damn good but it shows just how good actual Tour Pros are when we can watch Brad do this in every video but he's still just a bit off playing for money. Guys on TV are just unreal.

Garret’s optimism throughout this whole video is pure class

castaneda's been playing pretty well lately, you can see he's been putting some work in, good for you Steve
Roger
Yeah he's gotta be careful not to screw up that 13 stroke head start! 😂
Inb4 2
@Roger well, let's take into consideration the guy shot 8 over in a major tournament course in the middle of a hurricane!Ex professional Luke kwon only shot 5 strokes better, let's give credit where credit is due, Rick shiels has shot way worse over there in beautiful sunshine
Roger
@Inb4 2 I agree w u. my point was he has definitely improved and it doesn’t make sense to keep giving him 13 strokes every single major.
Timmy O'Toole
@Inb4 2 rick shiels is garbage at golf though
Inb4 2
@Timmy O'Toole fair enough, but that doesn't take away the fact that Steve shooting 8 over in those conditions is pretty impressive, especially for someone that 3 years ago was 8 over by the 3rd hole, notice his approach shots recently, guy barely misses greens and when he does it's not those 50 yard misses like say Matt or shiels
