We Are Not the Same
Good Shoes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We, disagree
I, I think it's good to disagree
You are always saying that
We are not the same
And it's making things so difficult
You're so beautiful
I don't agree with your opinions
About
Politics religion or anything
We are not the same
And it's making things so difficult
The lyrics of Good Shoes' song We Are Not the Same give a clear insight into the dynamics of a difficult relationship. The opening line, "I suffer you so easily" speaks volumes about the singer's willingness to tolerate and endure the other person's behavior. However, the following line "We disagree" shows that there are some fundamental differences between the two individuals.
Despite the differences, the singer acknowledges the importance of disagreement, "I think it's good to disagree," he says. The second verse mentions the other's beauty, indicating the fact that the singer holds this person in high regard, "You're so beautiful." Nevertheless, the singer doesn't agree with the other's opinions regarding politics, religion, or anything else.
The repetitive chorus "We are not the same, and it's making things so difficult" highlights the friction that arises when two people with different beliefs and perspectives try to sustain a relationship. The song opens a window into the complexities of the human psyche and relationships, where it is often challenging to find a middle ground when faced with a difference of opinion.
