Fifteen
Gooldroom feat. Chela Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It’s been a long time, wondering why
The summer smells like sin and wonder
Feels like it
Got inside of
A place and time
I dream about when
I get a walk in
I'll let us always
The summer sun I can’t go back to
The touch of your skin, on my skin
Look away the sun’s above us
Now you know we’ll look back up in time

But we were only fifteen,
Fifteen we're floating through the slipstream
You’re with me, we were only fifteen
Fifteen just floating through the slipstream

It’s been a long time
Wondering why
The summer smells like sin and wonder
Feels like it
Got inside of
A place and time
I dream about when
I get a walk in
I'll let us always
The summer sun I can’t go back to
The touch of your skin, on my skin
Look away the sun’s above us
Now you know we’ll look back up in time

But we were only fifteen,
Fifteen we're floating through the slipstream
You’re with me, we were only fifteen
Fifteen just floating through the slipstream

We were only fifteen,
Fifteen we're floating through the slipstream
You’re with me, we were only fifteen
Fifteen just floating through the slipstream

We were only fifteen,
Fifteen we're floating through the slipstream

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Fifteen" by Gooldroom feat. Chela express nostalgia and longing for a past summer romance. The first verse describes the singer's memories of a particular time and place, a dream they have about returning there. The second verse repeats this sentiment, emphasizing the sensory experience of that summer ("the summer smells like sin and wonder"), and the physical intimacy of the relationship ("the touch of your skin, on my skin"). The chorus, "But we were only fifteen, Fifteen we're floating through the slipstream," captures the sense of being suspended in time, at a moment when everything felt possible, but also fleeting.

The song's title is significant, as it highlights the age of the singers and the sense of innocence and possibility that comes with being fifteen. The lyrics evoke a sense of ephemeral youth and beauty, as well as longing for the past. The use of the term "slipstream" emphasizes the sense of movement and change, as well as the feeling of being carried along by time's passage.

Overall, the lyrics to "Fifteen" capture a sense of wistful nostalgia for a lost summer love, and the fleeting nature of youth and beauty.

that's a Lagoon 620 Cat... smoothest sail and roomiest of the Cats out on the water. It's pretty much a floating party platform, and best for stargazing, sunrises and sunsets with your closest mates.

i got to " borrow" my Unk's L620 when he was out of town, when i was living with my Unk and my Aunt by the West Coast.

Actually, Predawn is indeed the best time to pull out of the marina;
less boats out do make for a clean get away.

i was not 15 then, but it was just before freshman university in the Fall. Our last summer together, there were 6 of us and, yes, i would go back to that summer. in a way, everything was perfect-- time and place, and the people you love.

Unk kinda knew i hijacked it -- the fuel levels were off, and ship's GPS can be traced; i suppose he didn't teach me to sail it without preparing for that eventuality.

Not 15, but memorable day out to the waters it was. you grab those moments and you hang onto them tight.

@kw271

@@EJ205T it's ok. You can create your own now. You need a template? I try to make 1 every season.

Have you ever had a snowball fight in a COVID abandon sports field with buddies... And you make the core of the snowballs with coloured flavoured edible syrup and you keep hitting them in the face?

Yes, you need to do some prep work in the kitchen. mix kool-aid and freeze and slush it, or if you are lazy just dust the fresh snowball with koolaid powder, or buy frozen juices and take a scoop then roll it over fresh snow to disguise it.

The most wicked one I made was hot sauce.. it was like getting hit with pepper spray... but cold first, then hot!
We got kool-aid watermelon, key lime, margarita flavours. if you are old enough, break out the booze to make vodka soused ones, liqueured ones -- aw man those are brutal, it's like getting shots at the 🍻 but someone slams it in your face!

hide these special ones in a separate pile or baggie them individually or put it in an igloo cooler box or those foiled bags they have at the supermarket for frozen foods, place them strategically at the field or ski-slope terrain, you need to hold one in your hand and get real close before you slam it in the face of your mates -- or chase them to the strategic spot and pick one up and smash it in their grill! the first to get tipsy loses, or the one that has been forcefed 3 would lose, or the one that random caught a boozeball would be the one that loses. you make up the rules as you go along -- the point is to get your mate or yourself punch-drunk!

Losers eat the rest!!😂😂😂

I too remember when I was 15, skipping school to steal a yacht and sailing out to sea with my friends...

@NathalieSnip

Hahahahahahahah well I chilled on nice boats secretly too, but I could't skip school. Asking a black mom ass whoopin. <3

@kimchiburpboy1985

haha you are funny. ass whooping lol

@paulonetto9652

It's funny, just two nights ago my friends and I went out to the harbor to take out my one of my friends' uncle's sloop without his permission in hopes of riding off the residuals of hurricane Irma, which is kinda-not-really stealing. Really helps that most of us grew up learning how to sail, too. Anyway we had Spotify radio playing off the speakers, we brought like twenty bags of flaming hot cheetos and we were just decking out and this song played. Not gonna lie, being out on the water at two in the morning staring out at the city lights was boring as fuck but it really reminded me of when I first saw this music video almost three years ago and I was thinking about how I was 15 but sitting in my room doing math homework instead of, you know, stealing a yacht and sailing out to sea with friends. I thought the kids in the video were being unbelievably stupid, but I also kind of wanted to be one of them I guess. It finally makes sense now, but only difference is that I'll be going to college three thousand miles away in eleven days, plus we're 18. It nags at me about how I can be doing something I find boring in the moment but will miss a year, even a month from now

@murphy0

Sig Hansen deep comment man. Hit me lol. I’m 15 currently and don’t want to be an adult yet lol I really dont

This song makes me so sad. Reminds me of youth long gone, friends I will never see again; some because I have lost touch with them and others because they have moved on from this life. It seems the years have gone by so fast and the ones I have left will probably go by even faster. All the people I have met, the ones I remember and the ones I don't, thank you for being in my life and I wish you well.
