puos qe n'er a mens
l'Emperatriz, qui jovens
a pojada els aussors gratz ;
e, si l cors non fos forsaz,
be n feira parer
com fols si sap decaser.
The lyrics of the Gor's song "Mais no seria" are in the Occitan language, and they convey a message about the limits of power and authority. The first verse suggests that there might not be any harm if someone who thinks they are superior were absent, as their absence could reduce the risk of their abuse of power. The second verse refers to the Empress, who is young and has a tendency to listen only to those who flatter her. This suggests that even those in positions of authority can be fooled by flattery and don't always listen to reason. The final line of the song suggests that if someone cannot control their own impulses, they may appear foolish.
The song's message is an interesting commentary on authority, and how it can be abused. It suggests that just because someone is in a position of power, it doesn't mean they are fit to lead, and that flattery and abuse of power can lead to foolish behavior. It also suggests that those who abuse their power are worse than those who are absent, suggesting that sometimes it is better not to have authority than to have it wielded improperly.
