Big Mouth
Gorilla Biscuits Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Time and time again you betray friends
With lies, and your gossip
The stories you tell can hurt like hell!
It's your big mouth and it's getting on my nerves
You know I wish you'd just shut it up
It's your big mouth and the shit that comes out
You know I want to trust you but I can't
Your word's not given, it's lent
My advice to you, is to start somewhere
Why don't you shut the fuck up now
It's your big mouth and it's getting on my nerves
You know I wish you'd just shut it up
It's your big mouth and the shit that comes out
Has nothing to do with what you're talking about
In Gorilla Biscuits's song Big Mouth, the lyrics condemn someone who consistently betrays their friends through lies and gossip. The lyrics express frustration with this person's behavior, as they tend to spread hurtful stories that have nothing to do with what they're actually talking about. The main chorus of the song centers around the singer's irritation with this person's big mouth, and how they wish they would just keep it shut.
The verses express a palpable sense of disappointment in this person's actions. The singer wishes they could trust them, but they simply can't. They don't keep their word, and instead just borrow it for a while before ultimately betraying their friends once again. The song's final line, "Why don't you shut the fuck up now," is a clear indication of just how fed up the singer is with this person's behavior.
The lyrics of Big Mouth are a clear warning against the consequences of careless speech and hurtful actions. They urge listeners to take care with the way they speak about others, and to be mindful of the damage that gossip and lies can cause. It is a reminder to choose friends wisely, and to avoid those who consistently place their own selfish desires above the good of others.
