Th… Read Full Bio ↴The title and ending track off Gorillaz' 2005 album "Demon Days".
The album talks a lot about negative aspects of modern life, from the Iraq War and global pollution, to the plastic nature of an overly monetized music industry. It represents today’s era as being the “Demon Days”.
This track is a really uplifting end. It’s making the case that although things are bad, there is always time to recognize the evils of the world and improve your life.
From the Gorillaz biography "Rise of the Ogre";
“The light at the end of the tunnel, the dawn after the longest night of the soul. Based around the same chords as ‘Don’t Get Lost…“, allowing the two songs to become one glorious crescendo, a real musical climax that guides the listener into a far more optimistic climate.”
Noodle: “As with the previous track, the vocal harmonies were provided by the London Community Gospel Choir. This is the final relief; the hope, the rapture and the reward for the journey.”
2D (reflective and thoughtful): “You remember when you were a little kid and you would look at the clouds in the sky as the sunlight bounced off them. And something that simple would make you feel a part of everything and all alone at the same time. And that feeling’s not something you can ever put into words so you spend your whole life chasing it; making music, taking pictures, painting… whatever in the hope that other people will understand that sense or… feeling. As creative entities we look for signs of life outside ourselves for a connection to… alleviate the sense of solitude. That’s why we all do what we do. whether we know it of ourselves or not.”

You don't get nobody, people sigh
It's so bad, lasting far, but love yourself
Hiding in a hole in there
All the glasses are far too big
Bring it back, got to hold it back
To let you do that, yet you don't want me back
Before it fall down, falling down, falling down
In these demon days, we're so cold inside
It's so hard for a good soul to survive
You can't even trust the air you breathe
'Cause Mother Earth want us all to leave
When lies become reality
You numb yourself with drugs and TV
Pick yourself up, it's a brand new day
So turn yourself 'round
Don't burn yourself, turn yourself
Turn yourself around to the sun
In these demon days, we're so cold inside
It's so hard for a good soul to survive
You can't even trust the air you breathe
'Cause Mother Earth wants us all to leave
When lies become reality
You numb yourself with drugs and TV
Pick yourself up, it's a brand new day
So turn yourself 'round
Don't burn yourself, turn yourself
Turn yourself around into the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
To the sun, to the sun
The song "Demon Days" by Gorillaz is a commentary on the state of the world and the struggles that individuals face in trying to survive in it. The opening lyrics depict a bleak world where people are alone, disconnected, and cold inside. The singer is isolated, and those around them are apathetic, as seen through the use of the phrase "people sigh." However, amidst the darkness of the world, the song offers a message of hope. The lyrics urge the listener to love themselves and to hold onto that love to overcome the isolation and despair.
The second verse shifts the focus from individual struggles to broader societal issues. The lyrics suggest that society has become so corrupted by lies that people have resorted to numbing themselves with drugs and TV. The earth itself is depicted as hostile to human existence, "Mother Earth want us all to leave." But again, the song ends on a hopeful note. The listener is encouraged to turn themselves around and face the sun, to find a better way of living and to strive for a brighter future.
Overall, "Demon Days" is a powerful commentary on the state of the world and the struggles that people face on a daily basis. It acknowledges the darkness and pain that exists, but ultimately offers a message of hope and encouragement for listeners to keep going and fight for a better tomorrow.

Arguably the best album I've ever heard, honestly.
I remember putting it in when I bought it, my dad talking crap about their last album being recycled garbage that hadn't worked before.
2 tracks in and he looked like a cave man discovering fire.
When we finished it he looked at me and was like 'this was an amazing work of art, thank you' then we listened to it nonstop for months.
I've probably spent a considerable portion of my 30 years on this planet with this on repeat.
If you're late to the party, welcome.
DARE is an absolute BOP
November has come is probably one of my personal favorite songs to be recorded ever
