Starshine
Gorillaz Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Starshine never gonna find me
Starshine, they ain't gonna find me
Starshine, never gonna find me
Starshine, never gonna find me

Stand easy with myself, with myself
Jumping up, I'm low, low, low, low
Show me down

Starshine never gonna find me
Starshine, they ain't gonna find me

Starshine never gonna find me
Starshine, never gonna find me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Gorillaz's song Starshine express the idea of hiding and being unseen, with the repeated phrase "never gonna find me" indicating a desire for anonymity and privacy. The lyrics are simple and repetitive, creating a hypnotic effect that is reinforced by the song's electronic beat and catchy melody. The phrase "stand easy with myself" suggests a sense of self-acceptance and confidence, while the line "jumping up, I'm low, low, low, low" implies both a physical movement and a feeling of being trapped or stuck in a lower state.

The overall mood of the song is somewhat melancholic, with a sense of isolation and detachment. The lyrics could be interpreted as a commentary on the pressures of fame and the desire for a more peaceful existence away from the public eye. Alternatively, the song could be read as a more personal meditation on the difficulty of finding one's place in the world and the struggle to maintain a sense of identity in the face of external pressures.

@spaghetti5914

It reminds me of my pets
Starlight and Starshine
They had the same expression on their face, but different color pattern
Starlight developed a disabling spinal problem
I fought for 1 year trying to save her, there are no specialized vets in my area
She developed eating and speaking problems, her voice became coarse
One day Starlight disappeared
I know what happened to her, but I don't know where she is
Starshine is fine

Jamie: Y'know what would be a good idea? Make this song audible only on the left ear/headphone.

@lolazokekk6765

the song its actually stereo just if you put the volume to max you can see its stereo just the most is heard in the left ear

@dvr3328

the audio is very clearly in the left channel: it's just there is some bleed into the right channel. and yes, it is stereo, because stereo is the only way there can be channel separation in the first place.

@sezaetra887

i adore this song, it sounds so horribly lonely and hopeless. it kind of gives me an image of a guy trapped under the rubble with rescue helicopters always going past him.

Or being lost in space. How horrific

@raymonddeactivated7118

@NewYorkForever oh my god, now everytime i hear this song i think of a lone astronaut in space drifting away as their oxygen runs low, then getting sucked into a black hole

@acynder1

I think about a lonely guy walking down the streets in the suburbs winout a cent to his name. Like a walking dead, with a 1000m stare. Well aware that is no way out of his misery, cursed with existing. Probably with some dark business on his belt. Who knows? Maybe some lenders are looking for him? Or he rated out some drug business and the drug lords are looking for his head. In any way, each breath is a borrowed one. A poor soul, walking down the street in a cold night, under the orange glow of sodium lightposts.
