The opening lyrics of Gorillaz's song "Tomorrow Comes Today" express feelings of isolation and disconnect from the world. The singer explains that while everyone is present, there is no tool to capture or represent their surroundings. The camera, which could capture moments of joy and happiness, is absent, leaving them in a state of eternal sequel. However, the lyrics also suggest an escape in the form of music. The digital, synthetic sound of the song -- the antithesis of the organic and natural -- transports the singer to a realm which they feel more at home in.
The second verse of the song takes on a more uplifting tone. The artist says that they desire sound in stereo, leading the joyless existence behind. The singer is not content with the stagnant and fixed life they seem to be living. They imply that they may not be here for long and feel that they are wasting their valuable time.
