Hailing from the parish of St Mary In Jamaica, his natural flare for music … Read Full Bio ↴Hailing from the parish of St Mary In Jamaica, his natural flare for music saw him emerging on the dancehall scene at the age of 16. He initially began his music career working with local sound systems, such as Super Rock, High Power and , gradually progressed to working with one of Jamaica’s legendary sound systems, the mighty Kilimanjaro made famous by the late great Garnett Silk and Sir G’s International.

His first recording Champion became a big hit in Jamaica, earning him a name on the dancehall scene. In 1990, Gowdie went to England where he met G Vibes, who produced another hit single for him, Miss Goodie Goodie. Gowdie went on to record more singles for noted producers, such as Top Secret, Jazzy Creations and the legand Bobby Digital. Gowdie now has his own label VIS Records which has recently released the Zion Way Riddim and the Index riddim albums both produced by Gowdie and featuring many big names including Sizzla, Anthony B, Gregory Isaacs, Freddie McGregor to name a few.

Gowdie is currently producing a new album for reggae legend Gregory Isaacs and new album for Luciano another reggae great. The singer/producer is getting ready to release his album I’m a Jamaican this summer and will feature combinations with Mykal Rose, Gregory Isaacs, Mighty Diamonds and Jah Mason. The Single I’m A Jamaican is currently in the top ten in the stampede street charts and was Stampede’s artist of the week. With all this you can expect big things to come from Gowdie Ranks and VIS Records.
