Most spear builds I've seen pair it with bow for the full dex build. The bow's ability to have almost permanent 20% haste is awesome. On any build I keep one in inventory to swap in for getting around the map.

DEFINITELY want to see a full build video on Spear/Firestaff. I've been running Rapier/Firestaff since launch and its good but I feel like the Spears reach and bleed might fare me better against W-key warriors holding the Great Axe. Also wondering what your thoughts are on the Musket in open world PVP? Honestly I have a hard time using any weapon that doesn't have some kind of movement ability, but landing headshots with it feels so rewarding. Love the vids man, used to watch you when I was big into ESO pvp and was super psyched to see you cover New World!

This looks very interesting! Was sad that the IG wasn't really a good option as I am liking the spear as well. I was watching you lvl up on twitch so this is great. I am curious to see more on your build! I was also wondering if you could comment on rotations, why you choose one type of attack over another. Also do you keybind anything to your mouse vs keyboard? I have an MMO mouse from my Wow days etc but having difficulty deciding what I want on the mouse vs the keyboard.

I've been rocking a heavy with spear and musket. Works well, I find blocking more reliable than dodging. It's slower, but more reliable in my opinion.

Spear is my favorite weapon because it has really fast movement speed. With 150 dex, light armor with the spear stamina/dodge passives, rolling animation cancel is how I catch players trying to run away.

You should definitley try the impaler perk spear with throwing tree hatchet, the status effects that throwing hatchet tree offers combos very nicely with the 10%+ dmg per status chance perk on the impaler tree. It'll also help with ranged and has decent movement.

@Kristofer I play fire staff either rapier or ice gauntlet. Have you tried spear/rapier. I notice you don't really use your ice gauntlet as much and I feel like if you had the counters and mobility of rapier it would make your spear even more deadly. You could use rapier for gap close or to escape.

iv been playing fire staff hatchet and honestly iv been likeing it berzerk is really helpfull for dealing with melee fighters and since im a pure int build my fire staff hits like a truck so i have ranged down and iv been really likeing it

I'm currently running fire staff/ice gauntlet in light armor with 3500 health and get obliterated. I'm level 37 and was fighting a level 31 and he 3-4 shot me with just great axe light attacks. Anyone else having this issue?

i used spear/bow and swapped to rapier/icegaunt, spear/bow is great for duels but most of the times ur 1vX and i dont feel like spear is good for 1vX

nice video, but its a bit sad u didnt play the Spear/Ice with an Int build and gem on spear so can u really use ice as well
i switchted from bow/spear to ice/spear with int build (coz i think the ice gaunlet is esiert to hit at range since it can shoot right away without the aiming animation) and i really like it !
im just not sure wether i should stay light or go medium, where spear/ice kinda lacks mobility to chase without any speed ability (like rapier, fire would have), what do u think?

Something I was theory crafting last night: Have you tried Firestaff + GA intelligence light armor build? ... I think using Gravity well lockdown into Pillar of Fire with 40% dmg perk + heavy w/ animation cancel fireball all while safely in a Helios aura would be insane burst on a 30 second cooldown. Plus two dashes from GA and fire staff. Almost as crazy as jav+firestaff but could work. Bait their dashes as a weak firestaff clothy then when they burn their dashes getting to you, hit them with the grav well FS megaburst.

Thoughts?

@C22F True but honestly firestaff autos and abilities are both so good that you don't really even need more than some utility from your secondary. The rapier would of course provide more damage, but the riposte stun breaks on first hit so it's not the same. Grav well would actually pin the opponent in all your burst without the ability to roll, unlike a rapier stun. I haven't tried it yet but it's on my to-do list

I have thought about this as well. The downside is having a weak(ish) secondary weapon in the great axe that doesn’t scale with intelligence. Using a gem to convert 30% of damage to elemental doesn’t quite make up for using a weapon that doesn’t scale with Int. I tried using the hatchet in this way with the fire staff, then ended up switching to rapier because if you hit a riposte with the last perk enabled, you get a 2 second stun window where you could theoretically do the same thing you’re saying with gravity well. Plus the weapon scales with INT. And you get the rapier dash. Just my two cents

You can build full int and use elemental gem to have spear scale off int

the only part that scale off int is the converted dmg so 30% or 40% if you have a brilliant gem. Which is why rapier is more popular for that kind of build with ice gauntlet since it's secondary stat is also int, so you still get a good amount of dmg from going full int.

no offense, but i also tried these builds you have tried, and the most disgusting build is and will always be great axe / great hammer, for huge pvp wars any ranged weapon but anything that could potentially force you into a closequarters fight the greataxe/greathammer combo dominates

edit for class: axe take Charge / Reap / Gravity Well Hammer: Shockwave / Clear Out / Path of Destiny and you need Concussive Impact + Prevailing Spirit

GA/Warhammer is indeed a meta cookie cutter build but it's easily counter-able with ranged light armor. Rapier or Ice gauntlet in good hands and you won't be able to hit them.
