Where the "see" used to be
It seems that I'm ceasing to be
In a season of the old me
I wouldn't trade my place
I got no reason to be
Weathered and withering
Bust the lock off the front door
Once you're outside you won't want to hide anymore
Light the light on the front porch
Once it's on you're never want to turn it off anymore
And now it's on
Now it's on
Now that the lake's in place
Where the dead sea used to be
It seems that I'm ceasing to be
In the season of the old me
I wouldn't trade my place
I got no reason to be
Weathered and withering
Like in a season of the old me
Bust the lock off the front door
Once you're outside you won't want to hide anymore
Light the light on the front porch
Once it's on you're never want to turn it off anymore
And now it's on
And now it's on
And now it's on
And now it's on
Now it's on
Now it's on
The first verse of Grandaddy's song "Now It's On" talks about changes taking place, specifically the replacement of the letter "C" with "K". This is a metaphor for transformation and moving on from old ways. The lyric "It seems that I'm ceasing to be in a season of the old me" emphasizes this idea of personal growth and change in the individual. The second verse continues this theme of change, but this time with a contrasting image of a dead sea being replaced by a lake. The singer is saying that they are shedding their old self and embracing something new and refreshing.
The chorus of the song speaks to the idea of not looking back once you've made a change. The metaphorical locking and turning on of the front porch light symbolizes the acceptance of one's new self and new life. The repetition of "now it's on" emphasizes the finality of this decision.
Overall, the lyrics of "Now It's On" suggest that change can be difficult but ultimately liberating. The song encourages listeners to embrace change and to move forward without regret.

where the fuck did I hear this song originally? Someone was just using it as a sound on TikToc and I was like âhey wait a minuteâŚâ
Now here I am. I know every word*. The whole song is burnt in to my memory like I was listening to it all through high school. I *probably was*. But *where did I hear it originally!?!?
This is totally my style of music too. Or at least it was. These days Iâm more in to low roar, but thatâs a pretty natural progression given the time that has passed.
I canât find this as a song in a video game or a movie anywhere. But I did live in california near Modesto back then. Same area code and everything. So maybe the radio? But I didnât listen to the radio much.
This is going to bug me forever.

One dollar bin. Both saddened and optimistic about this tbh â sad cos this amazing band have been relegated to such status; happy cos maybe that means itâll reach more people where it belongs :)

I found Steve from Blues Clues album in the dollar bin. It's worth more than that if you're a Flaming Lips fan

I once heard this song outside a cafe and it literally haunted me for six months. I couldn't remember the lyrics but I remembered the rhythms. Then one day I remembered enough to google it (yes after months had gone by) and was able to find it again, after hearing it for maybe just a minute or so I knew it was one of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard. I love this band so much.
