At 17, he relocated to Montreal, QC to attend university, and began working in nightclubs cleaning tables and DJing. He started writing music at this time, incorporating the unique blend of sounds he grew up surrounded by. He started experimenting with music production and rapping in 2013, and dropped out of school to relocate to Los Angeles and pursue music full time.
Adopting the Grandson moniker while living in LA, he dove deeply into rock influences such as Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, and Led Zeppelin, while also listening to rap/R&B music emerging out of Toronto and alternative acts such as Twenty One Pilots and Hiatus Kaiyote. He found a small community of musicians to work and perform with here in Los Angeles. The live tries to create a frantic, mosh pit-inducing cathartic release of energy for concert-goers, influenced by early punk and grunge music.
Searching for his voice and for meaning in today’s divisive, chaotic world, Grandson confronts the most pressing issues of his generation through his songwriting, such as financial inequality, governmental and environmental accountability, and social justice, giving these topics a soundtrack with a genuine sense of urgency and frustration. The music also touches on adolescence, relationships, and the insecurities and difficulties of growing up through your 20s.

I turn up 'til my nose bleed, I
Blacked out in the black car
I was trying to feel like a rockstar, but
I can't just do one now, no
I've been way too numb now
I'm living on the run now
Oh I gotta get out of this town somehow
'Cause the bad's been slowly getting worse
And this fast lane living, it's a curse
Better tell me what's your life worth
I think it's time for a change
'Cause the bad's been slowly getting worse
And this fast lane living, it's a curse
Better tell me what's your life worth
I think it's time for a change
'Cause the drugs don't work
Anymore, anymore
Anymore, now the drugs don't work
Anymore, anymore
Anymore, now the drugs don't work
I couldn't find the fill again, I
Couldn't seem to kill the pain, I
I was living in the moment
Searching for a little serotonin
But, this shit ain't so fun now
I, can't tell what the come down
I've been living on the run now
Oh I gotta get out of this town somehow
'Cause the bad's been slowly getting worse
And this fast lane living, it's a curse
Better tell me what's your life worth
I think it's time for a change
'Cause the bad's been slowly getting worse
And this fast lane living, it's a curse
Better tell me what's your life worth
I think it's time for a change
'Cause the drugs don't work
Anymore, anymore
Anymore, now the drugs don't work
Anymore, anymore
Anymore, now the drugs don't work
Anymore, anymore
Anymore, now the drugs don't work
Anymore, anymore
Anymore, now the drugs don't work
Woo, woo, woo, woo
Overdose, overdose, overdose

Overdose
In Grandson's song "Overdose", the lyrics describe the effects of drug abuse, particularly in the context of trying to escape from reality through substance use. The singer describes their experience of being "higher than the nosebleed" and trying to feel like a rockstar while living in the fast lane, but ultimately realizing that the drugs no longer work and that it's time for a change. The singer recognizes the negative impact of their drug use on their life, and acknowledges the need to get out of the toxic environment that they find themselves in.
The song highlights the destructive nature of addiction, and the toll that it takes on both the individual and their relationships. The lyrics also tackle the idea of escapism, and the dangerous cycle of using drugs to numb oneself from their problems, rather than facing them head-on. Overall, the song serves as a message to listeners to prioritize their mental health and seek help if needed, instead of turning to drugs as a solution to their problems.

Ever heard of Kendrick Lamar?
While recognizing Grandson as a great artist, we should agree that Lamar messages are currently unmatched.

Felix Mcscouty IAMX is fucking great but most of their stuff isn’t as politically charged. Theyre great for darker stuff though. Met Chris w Kat Von D in May. Fucking awesome dude lol
