War
Grandson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Until the philosophy, which holds one race superior
And another inferior
Is finally and permanently
Discredited and abandoned

And it's war in the east
War in the west
War up north
War down south

And it's war in the east
War in the west
War up north
And war down south

Everywhere is war
It's a war
Oh, everywhere is war
It's a war

And until there's no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
It's on
And until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance
Than the color of his eyes
We say war

And it's war in the east
War in the west
War up north
War down south

And it's war in the east
War in the west
War up north
And war down south

Everywhere is-
Oh, everywhere is war
(It's war!)
It's a war
(It's war!)
Oh, everywhere is war
(It's war!)
It's a war
Oh, everywhere is war

Everywhere is
Everywhere is
Everywhere is
Everywhere is
Everywhere is
Everywhere is

Everywhere is war!
Everywhere is war!

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are from Grandson's song "War," which addresses the issue of systemic racism and the ongoing battle for equality. The song opens with a reference to the philosophy that some races are superior to others, and the hope that this philosophy one day be discredited and abandoned. Grandson then emphasizes how widespread the problem of racism is, using the repetition of "war in the east, war in the west, war up north, war down south" and "everywhere is war" to emphasize the pervasiveness of the issue across the world.

The lyrics then return to the idea that until there is no longer a distinction between first and second class citizens based on race, and until the color of a person's skin is no more significant than the color of their eyes, the battle will continue. The use of the word "war" in this context is particularly striking, as it highlights the enormity of the problem and the need for a sustained and intense effort to overcome it.

Overall, Grandson's lyrics highlight the ongoing struggles for equality and justice that continue to plague society, and serve as a call to action to address these issues in a meaningful way.

'Superior' and 'inferior' are subjective measures.

What's 'superior,' and apple or an orange?

They are different.

If you are judging by potassium content, the apple is superior. If you are judging by vitamin C content, the orange is superior. If you are judging by ease of eating, the apple is arguably easier because you don't have to peel it.

Various genetic factors that define human organisms are not distributed evenly across socially identified races. There are substantive patterns of difference, that go far beyond just cosmetics and appearances.

Does this imply some objective, unequivocal 'superiority?' No, it doesn't.

But the idea that we should expect all human populations to be substantively the same is one of the greatest lies of our age, a lie that is pushed by the oligarch class very, very heavily for various fairly easy to figure out reasons.

When you guys get famous, we'll be the ones who can claim we knew legends before they were even myths

@Maria-be4qf

Ariel Oudmayer grandson is actually one guy

@Sandity

Legends are just those who made the most difficult decisions to become famous. But luck also helps and alittle bit of elbow grease and talent.
