A lot can be said about a band who plays more than 100 shows in the first 6 months of their existence. Especially in a day and age where all it takes for certain bands to "make it" is to create a MySpace profile with glossy promo photos and tens of thousands of "fans". GRAVE MAKER is a band who blasted out of the gate, without help from anyone. No label support, no management, and no booking agent. Bailey, bassist and member of Canadian heavy hitters FIGURE FOUR (Solid State Records) comments "The chemistry of GRAVE MAKER works well because we are a group of friends who all share similar ideas about we want to do with our lives and where we want to go with the band. We're just trying to escape the every day 9-5 jobs we've all worked and have the experiences that only ever seem to come from being on tour." GRAVE MAKER may be a new band, but the members have grown up in the hardcore scene. Look for the North West natives in your town before the end of 2008 supporting their debut "Bury Me At Sea". The full length effort was produced by Roger Camero (THE WARRIORS, NO MOTIV) and features guests including Andrew Neufeld of COMEBACK KID and Rick Jimenez of THIS IS HELL and SOLDIERS. Look for it in stores on July 22nd, 2008.
Currently signed to Victory with a new album under their belt, Ghosts Among Men.
Broken Bones
Grave Maker Lyrics

For one peaceful night to stop thinkin'
How can I sleep without pain?
Without burning? Without strain?
I'm sweating in the face of death.
Is this how it's gonna end?
Two minds fighting one body.
Dark clouds surrounding me.
These broken bones, abandoned heart,
I will never wallow in a pit of MISERY.
I'll keep screaming for us tonight.
We burden our pain. I keep spitting out the truth.
SPITTING OUT THE TRUTH!
I don't enjoy what I have
Until it's gone and can't grab it.
I never realized how it really was.
And how those days are gone.
I will never wallow in a pit of misery.
I'll keep screaming for us tonight.
I keep spitting out the truth.
I blacked out again.
Lost track of where I am.
Screaming, "Fuck this world for all it's worth!"
The lyrics of Grave Maker's song "Broken Bones" depict a person lying in bed, desperately wishing for just one peaceful night without any physical or emotional pain. The individual's body is fighting against their mind, causing them to sweat in the face of death and wonder if this is how their life will end. The imagery of dark clouds surrounding them adds to the ominous feeling of the song, intensifying the mood.
The chorus is a defiant statement that the person will never wallow in a pit of misery or give up in the face of adversity. They continue to scream out for a better life and refuse to let their pain consume them. The line "I keep spitting out the truth" could be interpreted as the individual's way of coping with their suffering. Instead of bottling up their emotions, they are expressing their truth and releasing their inner turmoil.
The final verse of the song reflects on how easy it is to take things for granted until they're gone. The individual has a newfound appreciation for what they had before and laments that those days are now behind them. The song ends with the person seemingly having a breakdown and screaming out in frustration at the world.
Overall, "Broken Bones" is a powerful song about the struggle to overcome pain and hardship. The lyrics are raw and emotional, giving a glimpse into the inner world of someone battling against their own body and mind.
