A lot can be said about a band who plays more than 100 shows in the first 6 months of their existence. Especially in a day and age where all it takes for certain bands to "make it" is to create a MySpace profile with glossy promo photos and tens of thousands of "fans". GRAVE MAKER is a band who blasted out of the gate, without help from anyone. No label support, no management, and no booking agent. Bailey, bassist and member of Canadian heavy hitters FIGURE FOUR (Solid State Records) comments "The chemistry of GRAVE MAKER works well because we are a group of friends who all share similar ideas about we want to do with our lives and where we want to go with the band. We're just trying to escape the every day 9-5 jobs we've all worked and have the experiences that only ever seem to come from being on tour." GRAVE MAKER may be a new band, but the members have grown up in the hardcore scene. Look for the North West natives in your town before the end of 2008 supporting their debut "Bury Me At Sea". The full length effort was produced by Roger Camero (THE WARRIORS, NO MOTIV) and features guests including Andrew Neufeld of COMEBACK KID and Rick Jimenez of THIS IS HELL and SOLDIERS. Look for it in stores on July 22nd, 2008.
Currently signed to Victory with a new album under their belt, Ghosts Among Men.
Why We Fight
Grave Maker Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Binded through all the bullshit life keeps throwin' at us.
I know out there, there is something more for me!
This thing of ours, in my life it's all I need.
We're bonded by frustration
We're binded through all the bullshit life keeps throwin' at us.
No matter where I go, a thousand miles from home,
Give me a place to finally be myself!
I know out there, there is something more for me!
This thing of ours, in my life it's all I need.
From east to west, why we fight!
Whether lost in a crowd, or all alone by myself.
I'll keep screaming till the fucking end:
UNITE AND CONQUER!
In “Why We Fight” by Grave Maker, the lyrics paint a picture of a group of people bound by frustration and united in their struggle against the challenges that life throws at them. The opening lines of the song emphasize the deep connection between the members of this group. They have been through it all together, and nothing can break the bond they share.
Despite the difficulties they have faced thus far, the members of this group believe that there is still something more out there for them. They are searching for a deeper meaning and a greater purpose in life. For them, this thing they share, this connection they have, is everything they need to keep pushing forward.
The chorus then takes us on a journey, from the east to the west, emphasizing the unity and sense of purpose that this group of people shares. Even when lost in a crowd or feeling completely alone, they continue to scream out for unity and conquest.
Overall, “Why We Fight” is an anthem for anyone who has ever felt isolated, frustrated or disillusioned with life. It highlights the importance of finding a community that shares your values and supports you through the toughest times.
