Hard Times Lovin'
Graveyard Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Darling, I’m leaving now,
But it’s only for a while.
It won’t seem so long once I’m back into your arms.
Each night I go to bed
Wishing I was at home, next to you.

I know you wonder what I do when I’m gone,
‘cause, honey,
I know what you have heard
And I know what people say
And sure I’ve tasted fruit of many kind.
Once I had a piece of you
There was on me for nothing else.

Stay with me and see what tomorrow brings
‘cause, baby, I know those days I let you down
We’ll make it through, through these hard times.

Oh, baby, you and me are the same,
Slightly used and damaged, that’s okay.
I even think it’s good, no matter what they say
‘cause they got you here today, right here with me.

It was something in your eyes
That made it clear.
I knew that he was right, not a shadow of doubt
When I felt your touch.

I know those days I let you down,
But we’re gonna get through these hard times
See what tomorrow brings,
Will you love me and stay with me forever?
The pieces came together,
The point is that the people have failed by last careers,
No more faces passing by.

I know those days I let you down,
But we’re gonna get through these hard times
See what tomorrow brings,
Please love me, as they will live forever.
I got no need for no one else, no one else.

Once I got a piece of you, there was no

Overall Meaning

turning back for the singer in Graveyard's "Hard Times Lovin'." The song begins with the singer bidding farewell to his lover but reassuring her that he will return soon, and that the time apart would feel short once he's back in her arms. The lyrics in the first verse show how much the singer misses his lover, as he goes to bed each night wishing he was next to her. However, there's an underlying tension in their relationship, which is evident in the following lines.

In the second verse, the singer directly addresses his lover's concerns about his activities while he's gone. He acknowledges that people have said things about him, and he's tasted the "fruit of many kinds," but nothing compares to what he has with his lover. He urges her to stay with him through these tough times, assuring her that they will make it through together. The chorus repeats the theme of getting through hard times together, and the singer expresses his desire for his lover to stay with him forever.

The final verse shows the singer's conviction in their love, that nothing else matters as long as they have each other. He acknowledges their past struggles, but emphasizes that they've come together now. The repeated line, "I know those days I let you down," shows the singer's self-awareness and humility, but also his determination to make things work.

Overall, "Hard Times Lovin'" showcases the struggles and complexities of a relationship, but also emphasizes the power of love and resilience to overcome obstacles.

I know Graveyard since this album came out, listened to it, and then went to listen to the past ones, and then Innocence & decadence came up. For me is one of the greatest "modern" bands with a vast influence from the classic ones, amazingly enjoyable. BTW this one and Uncomfortably numb reminds me of my ex a lot, but now I'm good, I can enjoy the two songs

Noble Savage
