Let Me In
Great Caesar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was twenty-seven days late for my arrival
I tried twenty-seven ways to cut down my survival
Son, I know you can't begin to understand, and I hope you'll never have to know
What it's like to be a drifting kind of man

So let me in, let me in and
Clean my sin, pull me from this cup I'm in
I want us to begin again, now I've come back

Windows clouded with your breath, fingers wipe away your tears
The hope you had for love that left, has dwindled through the years
One embrace can not erase all of your pain
I hope this moment's not in vain

Let me in, I'm coming back, let me in, I'm coming, oh I'm coming back

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Great Caesar's song Let Me In speak about a person's struggle to cope up with the problems of life. The song describes the singer's journey of trying multiple ways to escape from his problems and eventually returns, seeking redemption. He hasn't arrived in his life for twenty-seven days and has attempted to cut down his survival in twenty-seven different ways. However, he realizes that he is a "drifting kind of man" and hopes the listener never knows what it feels like. The singer begs to be let in and have his sins cleaned up, so he can begin again with his life.

The second verse of Let Me In talks about someone else, presumably the listener, who has lost all hope in love due to past experiences. The singer wipes away their tears and hopes that this one moment isn't wasted. It's evident that both the characters in the song have had different problems in their life, but they share a common need for solace and forgiveness.
