I dated a prison guard for 1 1/2 years. She carried everywhere. She was a military brat so guns and training were part of her life since very young.

One time she had to go into ready to defend mode in a club in Philly while we were out dancing.

Two women that had recently been released from her prison were there, together (which was against their terms of release).

We moved to backs against the wall and watched them until they left. She opted not to press the violation at the time because her duty was in Jersey and it might have been a boat load of trouble for nothing.

And yes, the two cons saw her.

How I do get over the fear of guns?! I know I need one because it’s so much that goes on! I was walking one day and a truck pulled up and tried to get my attention and ignored them and then they pulled up more to where I was and both guys got out of the car and tried to snatch me up and all I could do was snatch away and run to where people could see me. Guns save more lives than most people realize. When I was in my early 20s I had to defend my rural family home against would be intruders that drove by a few times (there had been a string of robberies and they were looking for a grey 4 door much like the one I saw) around 2 am at low speed when I saw them pass the 3rd time I grabbed the gun, shut all the lights off and hid behind the trash cans beside the garage to see if they came back, sure enough they did. They pulled right up the driveway and stopped when I emerged from behind the trash cans, I pointed the gun at the car and told them they had exactly 5 seconds to reverse or I was going to shoot. They took off comically fast but I spent the rest of the night awake because I didn't know if they'd come back again. Never ever give up your guns.

The point is that you’re outside with no physical barriers between you and the unknown public. The criminals can roll up on you in a couple of seconds and even if you’re alert and see them coming you’re unarmed and can’t fight back. People need to wake up. For the most part of all headphones/earbuds made now days are specifically designed to block out background noise ya know, and making it practically impossible to even hear a conversation between two or more ppl that are right next to you while your listening to music w/earbuds on. Matter of a fact it's even fairly easy to NOT even hear/realize or notice, to a certain extent, an escalating volatile situation near you while ONLY wearing 1 of 2 earbuds I always really love jammin to some tunes while I'm doing my daily chores around the house but I'm actually currently trying to break that habit when anywhere in public or outside at home; especially while the lawn mower is on 😜

Here's the way I look at fighting back during a robbery and the people who just say "Think about your safety, just let the person take your wallet/car/virginity etc.":

If some dude I don't know, comes up to me on the street and points a weapon in my face without making his intent known, I'm going to fight back. It sucks because it can turn out badly. If someone points a weapon at me, there's nothing about that action that makes me trust that complete stranger with my life.

Yet for some reason, once you put the context of "robbery" into his actions, everything's okay and you should put your life in a complete stranger's hands and people go "Oh just give him what he wants, he's not gonna kill you".

Despite how shitty that situation is: No, I absolutely will never just automatically trust a complete stranger with my life just because it's a robbery.

Not only is my wife familiar with guns she also is an excellent shot. We both have our own gun bench in our gun room. When we come back from the range she goes over to her bench and I to mine. Whenever we go to the gun shows if there's something new I always have to buy two. One for me and one for her. Why never she goes the Bass pro and see something that she wants to try she does the same thing by buying two of them.

Unfortunately i live in a country where fire-arms , knives or any type of weapons are not allowed , so i have basically nothing ( other then my fists ) to defend me and my wife with when someone wants to do harm to us . I wished we were allowed to have fire-arms here ( i know how to use them as a retired soldier) because i would absolutely own one or two or more , but our weapon laws here are very strict , if you own any type of weapon ( without permit , and permits are almost impossible to get) you will get arrested .

A suggestion to all who carry. If you are with family or friends and a situation arises where you use your weapon to protect them and or yourself. I tell them to move away from me! Because I may be drawing fire and I don’t want them to get hit accidentally! With children, unless you’re with someone you trust to protect them! I obviously won’t put them in danger! I watched one of those videos that teach people what to do in certain circumstances and the thing that I saw them do was the man tell his wife get behind him ! I thought that was rather dangerous for her, I never thought of it before that moment, but it woke me up! If I’m leaving the area that would be different! JMHO! Take it or leave it! Teach your wives and daughters to shoot! You might find you've got an Annie Oakley in your family and it's good for defense - in the Army we all got training in using firearms etc because although a cook or clerk is not on the front lines, it's common sense to have everyone trained.

I always, always, always carry with the exception of when I'm in the shower and still then my firearm is at an arms reach. One other thing, if you are still looking at security cameras try to avoid wireless wifi systems. You would constantly need to be changing batteries out and God forbid you having a camera down in the moment you most need it. Go wired. It's a little more work to install but the peace of mind it gives you is priceless.

When I'm doing yard work I always carry and wear my Howard Leights! It makes people think you're just wearing headphones to drown out the mower sound. I also strongly recommend USCCA. They have a deal now where if you sign your spouse up, you only get charged an annual fee equivalent to how much it costs for a month (under the Elite membership)

When I mow lawns I don't carry anything or even have to worry about protection and can't imagine what it must be like to have that burden on my mind.

I think its all about being creative and having lots of option.
1. Security camera
2. A dog trained for this type of attack and I mean more than one if you have lots of money. German shepherd
3. Not being so flashy with material things.....like a very flashy vehicle.
4 This man clearly spent all his money on a flashy car wich caught the attention of these robbers ......come on a "corvette"

These cameras are actually fairly decent any crime lab that is going to do an investigation can clear that license plate up pretty easily and the quality of the video on their faces

Evil lurks around us constantly. NEVER fail to carry a handgun. In your house, keep it close. When you go outside, keep one on your side. Don't carry a gun because you live in fear, carry a gun so you don't have to live in fear.

Exactly! It also never hurts to wear a gun inside the house as well. A lot of people probably don't think it's necessary if it's close by, but appendix carry can be surprisingly comfortable in sweatpants. Just make sure the string ties are of a thicker type or switch it out for some paracord.

I do the exact same thing sir I don't wear headphones when I'm doing yard work I have a car so I drive but when I'm in public my face is not buried in my phone and I don't have my earbuds in when I listen to my earbuds I'm in a safe place where I know nothing's going to happen. I see too many people too consumed by their mobile devices easy pickings for the bad guys because they will not see them coming. I carry my firearm on me when I'm doing yard work as I live in North St Louis you may find this funny but I stick my 38 in my pocket even when I go to take the trash out sounds crazy but I do it.

I carry my gun when I'm in my bathroom sitting on my toilet watching video's like this one. I do carry when I'm outside doing yard work, or walking the dog through the neighborhood. I carry my firearm as close to me, like a tattoo on someone's arm or neck.
