No Way
Great White Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I guess it was yourself you were involved with,
I would've sworn it was me.
I might've found out sooner
If you'd only let me close enough to see.

That ain't no way to treat a lady, no way to treat your baby,
Your woman, your friend. That ain't no way to treat a lady,
No way, but maybe it's a way for us to end.

I was only bein' a picture,
With all the colors, I know,
While you were busy lookin' into
Wide blue mirrors and lovin' the show.

That ain't no way to treat a lady, no way to treat your baby,
Your woman, your friend. That ain't no way to treat a lady,
No way, but maybe it's a way for us to end.
There's a funny kind of consolation keeping me sane,
And I'd really like to share it, crawl on deep in my brain;
And see the times you never felt me lovin' you or needin' you,
So leavin' you now, you still won't know how to feel the pain.

I was lookin' out for my happiness
While you were lookin' within
And before you knew your own reflection
Always starts to tire you, it's happened again.

That ain't no way to treat a lady, no way to treat your baby,

Your woman, your friend. That ain't no way to treat a lady,
No way, but maybe it's a way for us to end.

Overall Meaning

In Great White's song "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady," the singer is expressing frustration with their partner's behavior in the relationship. The lyrics suggest that the partner was more focused on themselves and their own needs rather than taking care of their significant other. The line "I guess it was yourself you were involved with, I would've sworn it was me" highlights the fact that the partner was so self-centered that they weren't even paying attention to the singer's presence in the relationship. The singer also mentions that they were only seen as a "picture" to their partner, suggesting that they weren't valued as a whole person.

The chorus of the song is a repeated statement that it's not okay to treat someone this way. The singer demands proper treatment from their partner, who is referred to as "your baby, your woman, your friend." The final line of the chorus, "maybe it's a way for us to end," suggests that the singer is considering ending the relationship because of their partner's behavior.

The bridge of the song provides some insight into the singer's mindset. They mention a "funny kind of consolation" that's keeping them sane, but it's not clear what this means. They also allude to times when their partner didn't feel their love or need for them, implying that the relationship has been challenging for a while.

Overall, "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady" is a song about the importance of treating your partner with respect and love. The singer is frustrated with their partner's behavior and is considering ending the relationship because of it.

Two dollars. No I gave you a five and a one. The Boys Next Door is a MASTERPIECE of a movie. Charlie Sheen was not even popular yet and it is one of his best roles ever. The other lead actor Maxwell Caulfield was in the movie Grease 2 but his role in this movie was phenomenal. He played the psycho very well. The other Great White song that I love that was also in this movie is Hard And Cold.
