Sweet Dream
Greg Laswell Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If I could write out my own dream
For the next time that I sleep
You'd be the first one that I see
And I the last one that you keep

And the dream would go on and on
While we sway against all things thrown our way
And the morning would be so cruel
When it came with sunshine and warmth to blame

For announcing the end of my sweet dream
For announcing the end of my sweet dream

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Greg Laswell's song "Sweet Dream" paint a vivid picture of a person's ideal dream scenario. The lines "If I could write out my own dream for the next time that I sleep" set the stage for this imaginative journey. The dream space that Laswell conjures is one where the singer and his partner are the only two people present, and they are completely immersed in each other, swaying together against all the obstacles the world throws their way.

The dream is so perfect that the singer wishes it could go on forever. However, the harsh morning sun and the warmth it brings announces the end of this beautiful dream. The lyrics imply that the dream was so powerful and captivating that the singer wishes he could hold onto it forever.

"Sweet Dream" is a poignant song about love, longing, and the fleeting nature of dreams. The lyrics evoke a sense of sadness and nostalgia, as if the singer knows that he will never be able to recreate this perfect dream. The song is a testament to the power of our dreams, and how they can shape our hopes and desires.

There is no shame in being brought here by dollhouse.

The one minute of this songs is infinitely better than the whole of any other.

@CassidyParkerKnight

I completely forgot I discovered this song on Dollhouse until coming here and reading these comments, since I had been a fan of him before that. But I remember hearing the song on that show, thinking it was amazing and looking it up, and being so pleasantly surprised that it was his song.
